I feel your pain brother. I had to deal with a situation last year that I had to give up all that I was doing to help a sick relative my same age pass. It was one of the most humbling experiences that I have dealt with and it honestly changed my character to an extent (I'm still fairly shallow, but that is how they wanted it). The one thing that I always did, like many of the other tankers suggested was get out and exercise in some way. It lets you get out away for whatever time you need and it really cleans up your head for a while. If you engulf yourself constantly in the situation then things won't seem like they are getting better. Plus, you never know what instances you may run into while being away.
The next part is the toughest. An acceptance of what the worst could be. It is not what any of us want to do but at some point we have to accept the possibility of what the outcomes of our situation are. My cousin knew what was going to happen and we embraced it. Believe me, we had moments that were tearful but we have a strong sense of humor and that made things a lot easier, especially on him. Once you can accept the wost I feel you can only see things more positive. If you think about it, you are prepped for a negative outcome but if things start to happen differently then it is a huge mental boost. It is not an easy task and you will break down most likely, but we are humans. Emotion is cleansing. Then take any type of work you can get. There is no pride in having no income. Who cares if you make minimum wage, it is better than nothing any day of the week. I have worked the sh$#%est jobs you can imagine but I knew I had to. Ever done janitorial? It sucks. Women's bathrooms smell like a litter box. Men's rooms are no better, especially at a ski resort. Did you know the cold gives most people the runs? Try to keep your head high and look forward. If you look down you are more opt to run into something. If you know anyone that has dealt with a similar situation consult them too. I hope things get better for you and your family. |

Sorry man, I have been there. My biggest outlet has always been for going on 25 years now Skateboarding. Now I'm old beat up and I suck these days, but I still enjoy it and when I'm depressed or angry I just hit it that much harder. I then of course pay for it the next day in the pain department, but that's life.

This I know ALL too well.....
Keeping busy and mixing in things that you may not feel you have time for but that are FUN FUN FUN! Getting away is a GREAT recommendation from another Tanker but if it gets REALLY bad you might want to talk to someone. Nothing is worse than feeling alone when you feel bleak. Sometimes I just have comedy playing on the stereo or on DVD the ENTIRE day if I am at home and its really hard to feel like crap when George Carlin is talking about getting high on the plane. Hang in there, you are defiantly not alone these days.

This to , shall pass. I think of those four words. First the two , then the last two. Like a wave upon the shore, then back unto itself. Like breathing. It is all so natural.

Long live all of the blessed people on Hisstank. I have been reading all of the responses, and they are all very informative. There are many glorious people. Life is Beautiful. Helping one another is the ultimate goal.
