How many 6 year olds do you think you could take before they swarmed you like Agent Smith?
How many could one man beat up before you were overwhelmed? |

Around here, i used to have several "hipster" friends. You know the 18-25 year olds who listen to Pitchfork media bands, read horribly written comics, and indie films. They didn't quite understand why I was collecting/playing with joes, reading comics, etc if I had a decent job.
But I'm not friends with those people anymore anyways. |

WELCOME TO THE TANK!!!
I got made fun of all the time when I was in 5th and 6th grade for still liking GI JOE! My family used to give me crap like aren't you too old for that stuff, and what are you gonna do with all these toys.... But they have finaly given up. I'm 32 and I still LOVE to collect, display, and even play with my toys. I think there is a double standard between adult men & women though. At least there is in my experience! All the women in my family like to have their little sculptures, stuffed animals and keepsakes, but if a man collects toys, he must be immature. Well I'm sorry but that is total BULL SHIT. Lots of men and women collect a wide variety of stuff and I'm tired of gettin crap for it!

At least i'm not spending my money on drugs! So if there were no toys in the world, it would just be drugs and reruns of ninja turtles you have have recorded on VHS cassette?

Pffft dude, I get made fun of and hear whinning about everything from.."I cant believe how into this you are" or "dont you have better things to spend money on then toys and comic books?" I come from an old school family so I even get the "when are you gonna settle down with a nice girl". 1st of all my bills are paid, 2nd, I work, 3rd Im not outwardly nerdy, I dress appropriately and go out on dates and stuff.
Though I gotta say being made fun of for everything from collecting joes to universal monsters definately made me push harder to do things like go to the gym and practice martial arts...so now when anyone of my friends or family make fun of me they know they run the risk of me spazzing out, roid raging and putting them all in a headlock....its a pretty good system. |

The only person who really makes fun of me to my face is my wife..of course. No one else ever has...that I know of. My wife's cool with it, though...until I run out of money and start asking for the rent money. Thank God she holds the money.

No, but back in 1985 I remember bumping into a kid from school with Joes in my hand. I tried to hide them but it was too late. I thought for sure it was the end but he actually collected them too. We never spoke about it...it was our little secret. I was 13 at the time....very uncool to still be buying toys.

I am 32 as well and I figured I only had the money to collect one of each of the name characters if I was going to troop build (something I was never able to do as a kid.) So, now way was I going to save on the card. My entire collection is loose because I have to play with them. I have a touch of the OCD which I'm medicated for, but I let it run wild on my Joes to keep em dust free and not loose gear. |
