We get those things outside a lot. Luckily I haven't found many inside. I have seen them in the Garage and I've seen a lot of dead ones, those are freaky enough.
I'm not a fan of spiders either. I had a cousin who was so freaked out by one in his bedroom one night, he took his pellet gun and blasted holes all over his wall and ceiling, never actually hit the damn thing though. LOL I think he had to kill it with a shoe. If you want some poison that kills them good, get stuff called Seven Dust. It works great on killing spiders for a long time.

Up here int the mountains we get what we call "cricket spiders". They are spiders with six normal legs and the back two are like a crikets. They hop far and fast and it's a pain to try to kill them.
I've never heard or seen anything about them in books so they must be a local variety. When I tell folks who've never seen these about cricket spiders they always say "there's ne such thing, it has to be a cricket." Well they have 8 legs and spin webs so they're spiders to me. We got some big spiders when I lived in Fl, but nothing will make a grown man scream like a little girl better than having one of these lower itself on a web right in front of your eyes. |

It's a myth about Daddy Long Legs. They can bite and penetrate human skin, but their venom is harmless to humans (and actually not that potent to other insects, either). There are actually two different bugs that have the name Daddy Long Legs (the Harvestmen and the Cellar Spider). The Harvestmen isn't actually a spider, either. I don't know if we have Cellar Spiders here in LA, but there are Harvestmen all over the place.

Now picture going downstairs into the basement, turning on the lights, and having one of these uglies danglin from a web right in front of your eyes. All masculinity in my voice disappears.
