I grew up in a heavily forested area, I used to wake up with huge spiders crawling on my arms(I know cause I had a red heat lamp on in my room all night).
I would just blow them off over the side of my bed & go back to sleep. Whenever I find a huge sucker I always catch them by hand. They don't bite unless you really disturb them. Some friends of mine had a Tarantula that got out and I pulled it out from underneath their fridge. I like spiders

Wow.
Where do centipedes get that big? I see millipedes at work sometimes, but I've never seen a centipede. I didn't know they got that large. I gotta get one as a pet now! I'll decorate its terrarium as Cobra-La, and feed it puppies! |

I don't think we have centipedes in southern California (I have lived here my entire life and have never seen one in those 30 years) but we do have millipedes. I remember playing with millipedes as a little kid. I suspect the reason most people don't have a problem with millipedes is because they aren't venomous and don't bite like their centipede cousins and they don't grow to be that big. They also don't really look that threatening, either.

I've always known the cricket spiders to be cave crickets. My old house had an unfinished basement that was more like a cave then a basement and we had tons of these. Never saw one on a web though. Always crawling around on the floor. And those bastards got to be friggin' huge! I would take a flyswatter after them and beat the bejesus out 'em until they were disassembled and squished. Of course if I missed my initial swing and they jumped in my direction, I could be seen dancing around on my tip toes screaming like a little girl. Wife always got a kick out of that.

Spiders scare the crap out of me. I will go outside to investigate gunfire at 2 a.m. (and have), but I ain't messing with no eight legged little monsters. Gives me chills just thinking about 'em.
