I've been fired from a few but usually quit when I know it's going to turn out ugly...That's why I had to go into business for myself, I have a hard time working for others.....wait.....no, they have a hard time working with me.
My loyalty to the company and work ethic is exceptional. Also, I may not be book smart on many subjects but my common sense factor is higher than normal. Sometimes managers above me get a little scared for their job so they find a reason to get rid of me. I know I sound like a pompous ass for saying so, but It's true, it happened to me my last 3 jobs. Besides sometimes showing them up; when they ask me what I think, I tell them. Never rude or anything like that, but with some people, if they do not get the answer they are looking for (usually one to support their ego) then you're done. Knowing this, you would think I could give them the answer they are looking for, but I have another problem, I always tell the truth from my perspective.

Never been fired but I have been "laid off", which is hard to tell a difference since the outcome is almost identical.

Fired as a bank teller, along with 4/5 of the rest of the staff, including the branch manager.
And laid off once, but it was amicable, and 2 weeks before I graduated college. Wife still works there. I visit occaisionally; old boss asked once, jokingly, if I was politikin' for my old job back -- it felt good to tell him, "Ben, you can't afford me." He laughed because he was proud. Went to his funeral last year and cried for the first time in years.

Yes, early in my career. Young, naive, office politics newbie. When you're young and a new hire, you say yes to everything. I was a designer and took on more than I could chew. Tasked with too much work and too few resources. I didn't know how to say no and ask for help.
Management doesn't care about excuses. Just get the job done. How? When you're saddled with a weak pc, small monitor, flawed network, one software license shared among 3 people makes networking impossible. All these issues compounded and impeded my ability to work. They fired me and gave me a chance to explain myself. Felt no need to explain their shit workplace. At a recent job, I tried to force a worker to leave. I supervised over 3 people. I had the final say in my department. A new employee was hired without my input. He is an incompentant moron and mistake prone fool. I had enough. I called him out on his incompetance. He denied his mistakes. Claimed he had 10 years experience and challenged me to fire him. I called his bluff. Told him he should leave. Even though I had no authority. The incompetant management intervened and he stayed. Same job, another worker. She couldn't read english. I wanted her out. Management let her stay. Another person oversaw her work. I was laid off from this company recently. Shoddy work from incompentant employees led to major clients leaving. In reality, incompetant management hires incompentant workers led to company failure. I'm surprised any company can succeed. The workplace is a minefield of egos, politics, buearocracies and incompetance. I love that word! Fuck em! I got to work for myself!!! |

I honestly got fired for being 1 minute late three times over a 5 year period, I'm not kidding.
My boss hated me though. He got fired a week after for failing a drug test, haha. |
