Jeff Daniels filmed Escanaba In Da Moonlight here in lil Escanaba, MI a few years back. Not a bad movie but not totally true as the people, at least most of us around here, aren't like that. Deer hunting is HUGE up here though and alot of the people don't like the D.N.R. Officers so they liked the portrail of the one in the movie alot!

Shirley Jones (Ma Partridge)was born and raised in my hometown of Smithton, Pennsylvania.
A scene from "Silence of the Lambs" was filmed in a very, very small town a few miles down the road in Banning, Pennsylvania. It was the part where Agent Starling has her encounter with Buffalo Bill. I was a teen at the time and we had a friend claiming there was a movie filming in Banning called "The Slaughtering of the Lambs." The rest is history. "Wonderboys" with Michael Douglas was filmed not too far away from my house in Rostravor, PA. The scene where they are in the restaurant/diner. It was an old Howard Johnson's restaurant...one of the last of the old style HJ diners in the US. It had been closed down for years. One day they started working on it, renovating it. The started filming the scene and eventually tore the building down soon after filming finished. Parts of "Robocop" were filmed in Monesson, PA. The scene towards the end where Robocop drives to the old abandoned mills...That was about 15 minutes from my house. They are old steel mills along the Mon River. AND.....any horror hounds that know Toe Tag Pictures (August Underground films)...some of those films were filmed around the same area...Tom Savini has his SFX school in Monesson and director Fred Vogel, from Toe Tag was a student there. All in about a 10-15 mile radius. Pittsburgh was the real hub for film. George Romero...'nuff said! |
