You're missing my point. You simply want to argue. I'm done.

I'm not a gun proponent. Don't even like seeing them. But I can't say that other people can't have them. |

The intent of this bill is to use bureaucracy and red tape to make lawful gun ownership so difficult that many people won't make the effort. Something that has been long forgotten by people of this country, citizens and politicians alike, is that once a government license is required for something, it is no longer a right but a privilege. It is also ironic that the sponsor of this bill is from a part of the country whose murder and violent crime rates highlight the utter failure of gun control, not to mention the fact that he has done prison time for firearms charges.

I can't trust the common "tanker" with a figure review, why would I trust you with a gun?

And half the time you try to defend yourself in your own home, you can be brought up on charges too. It's a scary proposition, and one of the reasons I left the Army - there were too many soldiers being brought up on charges for defending themselves and their fellow soldiers. You can't do your job when your hands are tied behind your back.
My girlfriend doesn't think people should have guns - but in the same breath, she says she hates the police and military and government and doesn't trust them and they shouldn't have guns. I love her, but that's typical, naive modern liberal thinking. You can't just WANT people to treat each other respectfully and expect it to happen. PS... The Founding Fathers stated that the American people should never fear the government. They believed that the government should fear the American people. |

There are alot of guys like me who if we saw a crime occuring, would try to do what we can to stop it. Now that might mean just dialing 911, or it might mean more drastic steps. I just don't want some bureaucratic liberal nobrain idiot taking away my means of doing something if the need arises. |

I have no problem with waiting periods and background checks. There are people out there who should NOT have access to a firearm (The mentally ill, those with criminal backgrounds, etc), but here is an element in this country that if it can will take away all guns from law abiding citizens. Most are just lacking in common sense, but I question the motives of some.
But yeah, legal gun owners are the real danger. Riiiight. Look, accidents happen every day, in every shape and form. Someone gets hit by a truck. Someone gets killed by an accidental gun discharge. Someone slips in the tub and breaks their neck. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREVENT EVERY ACCIDENT POSSIBLE FROM HAPPENING. We will all die, one way or another. Until my time comes, I try to stay as far away from idiots of the world (the true danger) as I can, watch where I'm walking, and use the common sense I was born with. It's not rocket science. |

The other night on the news they were talking about an Arizona rancher who held some illegals sneaking over his land at gunpoint. He didn't shoot anyone just kept them there until the authorities arrived. Well the ACLU got involved and sued the rancher for millions for human rights violations or some crap.
Now there's a member of congress ( to keep this from being too political I won't say which party this person's a member of, but just guess) who wants to pass a bill stating all firearm owners have to take out a million dollar insurance policy for such cases or forfeit their guns. Govt. won't protect our borders and now you can't even protect your own private land. This country is headed down a very dangerous path. If we let our rights get taken away because it's not PC and might offend someone then we won't be any better than Europe. I'm not saying Europe is all bad but I've known many folks from England, Scotland, France and even Canada that I went to college with who got married when they graduated so they wouldn't have to go home. One friend from England got his parents to move here too and they love the freedoms we have. One thing in particular that he mentioned to me was how in England you even have to pay taxes for owning a t.v. It may not be the cool "Hollywood" thing to love this country, but honestly it is the best thing going and we need to elect leaders that will protect our way of life not "change" it. |

Exactly, and if the people have no means of saying "No" and making it stick, then eventually a government will arise that the people will have to fear.
