I knew it... I knew a lot of "collectors" we're going to start selling their collection off when the line stopped or when the movie hit. My prediction is coming true,I'm starting to notice a lot of members selling there collection. I am also noticing a lot of "should I stop" or "I quit" type of threads popping up...no offence to anyone but this leads me to believe a lot of us(not me) are band wagon or fair weather fans...which is very dissapointing,to say the least...does anyone else feel this way?

Well, I might stop collecting if the 25th line ends. I mean I am not going to buy toys I don't like just to collect. The likelyhood of my getting rid of my stuff is not high. Both my boys love GI Joe, but at six and three they don't take care of their toys too well. Once they get older, I plan on passing a lot of the stuff on to them.

The Conflict -
No, I don't feel this way. What constitutes your definition of a "fair weather" fan anyway? I understand your point of view, but because someone chooses to stop collecting because they are not interested in the movie merchandise - is it fair to criticize them? Are you providing everyone with the funds to build their GI Joe collections on the idea that they MUST buy everything; Is there a specific definition of a "GI Joe collector" or even a toy collector that says we have to buy every piece of plastic they put on the shelves and Internet... Hate to break your heart man, I am building a collection of ONLY those characters I owned in my original collection because I don't have every mother-lovin' character or the new editions of the vehicles - does that make me "fair-weather"? Many collectors I have run into are enjoying the nostalgia and memories that comes with collecting these figures. I think you also have to consider that the economy is hurting everyone in the pockets...some people may have to sell their items not because they want to but because they HAVE to. Before you check to make sure your prediction is coming true, Nostrodamus, check to WHY these things might be happening.

I'm a diehard fan since 1982! And a collector since 1986!
Although I have sold many of my original Real American Hero figures in favor of the 25th stuff. I much prefer the new figures detail, accessories and no need for "O-rings". When you have 400-500+ figures you go through alot of "O-rings" |

I have no intention of selling my collection. I didn't just spend 2 years buying them, going through constant price hikes and finally resorting to buying everything for more off the net just to sell them because I'm a crowd follower who only cares about the next hot toy that everyone wants. I don't imagine there are a lot of followers out there that are looking to get into the crowd known as toy collectors. If there are people who collect to be cool, I would say they've chosen the wrong crowd to make them popular or get them laid.

You are absolutely right but don't you think if someone needs to sell their toys to survive, they prabably shouldn't have been buying toys in the 1st place? Collecting toys should be a luxury that people who are some what stable or comfortable should have, imo. I know I pay bills 1st then put the bulk of the rest of my money in the bank for a rainy day then I buy house hold nessecities and then I buy joes...it seems some people need to get their priorities in order, imo
