Yeah, it's a good way to vent though for people who have been through it...

The scary part is there doesn't seem to be any positive up turns coming. I feel sorry for the children of today who have to deal with the mess we have created over the past 30 years. I have been wondering just what this might mean to us collectors? If it gets much worse there won't be any stores left to buy collectables at.

I used to get laughed at when I was in school because I worked at a fast food place and couldn't go out and party. I am now the supervisor of 6 restaurants and I saw some of my old friends from school and they had no jobs. Kind of hard to laugh at them. I offered them jobs, though.

I was laid off from GM in october, I just found a new job about a month ago, at the plant I was at, they recently cut out second shift completly. You had to have '98 senority to stay, I heard from my friend at GM that the stamping plant is laying people off you have to have something like '76 senority to stay, since everyone there has been there like 30 or 40 years.

Laid off November 14th '08. Caterpiller & International laid off and or cut orders WAY back so since we make(made) parts for them about 35-40 of us got the axe.

I'm pretty lucky. My companies big enough that when times get rough they get really aggressive, try new things because the rate is lower and buy up smaller companies and intellectual properties because the going rate goes down during these rough times.
My heart goes out to any of you suffering right now. Vaderquest, damn! That's a terrible thing bro. I'm glad you turned it around though.

Try getting into the Medical Field, as grim or morbid as this sounds, there's always pretty decent job security there. Though school might take a few years it's worth it. Hell, even those Tech Schools might get you into something.

The thing most don't realize (or maybe they do now) is that this pot was going to boil over sooner or later with people making their fortunes with money that didn't exist, misproporting profits, schemes, and false credit and financial numbers that were fudged for years. It was coming sooner or later.
