I'm a stonemason and have owned about every brand of full size truck out there. The fleet I bought last year are Fords. I have one 150, three 250's and a F-550 with a dump bed. The guys beat the hell out of the trucks on a daily basis, way more than an average truck will ever see, and with proper maint. they are probably the best trucks I've had so far. As far as looks go though I still miss my Dodges. They were nice just had more problems with them. My personal vehicle is an 08' Tundra and that by far is my favorite, but repairs are a little pricey althogh they are very rarely needed.

Couldn't speak to the more modern truck lines, but if your talking pre 90's vehicles I'd take a Chevy all the way. Only Blue Oval truck I ever owned leaked oil like a sieve and was a total bitch to work on. In Alaska we had a 69 Chevy that simply would not die, no matter how hard we tried to kill it.

I've had a few older Fords, loved them all. I drive an Isuzu and it's been great. My girlfriend's dad has an 2007 F-350 diesel that's a beast.
Actually, the next vehicle I want to get is the Toyota FJ Cruiser. I was really apprehensive about the way they looked initially, but after reading about their capabilities, I'm sold.

I have had 2 F-150's and have never had any issues. My new one is an 08' XLT with the 5.4 liter V-8. It has a super quiet cab and it has plenty of power and it rides great. My dad has always had an F-150 and never had any problems that I can think of either.

Had an F-150 Lightning, close friend owns a Dodge Ram, i personally liked my F-150 a lot better, the interior arrangements of the Dodge were subpar and overall the build quality of my Ford felt much better. Honestly, the Lightning is a different class of truck from the regular F-150 since it's RWD not 4x4 and is supercharged, but i know for a fact the regular F-150 4x4 is a bit underpowered compared to the Hemi Dodge's. Personally, i'd go with Ford, but if you're buying brand new, I hear the newest RAM is fantastic, Chevy hasn't built great trucks in quite awhile.
Toyota Tundras are expensive upfront and expensive maintenance, the Nissan Titan has a well known problem with the rear diffs blowing out which is why they plan to have dodge build trucks for them.

As much as I prefer to buy American, truth is I have had nothing but good fortuen with my toyota. I'd rather pay occasional high cost for repair then regularly pay lower cost.
If you take care of your ride, no matter what you get,, you'll have longevity. Problem is, few folks actually take the time to use preventative care.
