I can see the views of both sides, and we can all thank human feces shoplifters and scammers for making stores revamp their return policies.

Most retailer's policy on Disc media (XBOX, Playstation, Wii Games, DVDs, CDs, PC Games) is you can only return it if it's still sealed or if opened exchange it for the exact same item. This is one way the retail industry is trying to stop piracy. And it is understandable.
Why people get mad when they try to return open games and ask for their money back, get denied is beyond me. I think some of the stories in the posted website will have some degree of truth but exaggerated to make Target seem like the bad guy. After Christmas I returned a UBP and a 25th Anniversary Prime to Target because they went on clearance 2 days after my wife paid full price for them and they were very nice about it.

Its funny, UBP and Rattlers and conquests are going on clearance and falling off shelves and people are returning them but you have to kill someone to get hold of the first three Target vehicles or pay small fortunes to get them! I only saw a few in the wild, got mine of the bay for 20 each.
Not concerned about the tiger force and PP jets, I will get them when I can!

You can return anything to Target. You really just need to know how to work the system. If you don't have a receipt but you want to exchange the item do this. Buy the item you want and then return the old item with that receipt. As long as it's the same item it doesn't matter what size or color it is. It's so easy. I do it all the time when returning items for a better price.
For example. I bought the UBP for 62.99. I then bought another one for 44.08 and returned it with the old receipt. Did the same thing when it went down to 38.48. And I'm going to do the same thing again when I find it at 13.42.

Just the same with buying 2-3 of them while they are available and selling them to make a few bucks and buy something else with the extra money. To each their own.
Bottom line is...Target has a policy that they will match the lowest clearance price with a valid receipt. I think that is the key word being used here...valid. If you fail to provide a receipt showing you purchased the item, then you have to work with the policy of each store. With Target it is IF you used a credit card to make the purchase. If the cashier does not give you a receipt, then you have every opportunity to say, "excuse me, you didn't give me a receipt" and one will be printed. You have three strikes you're out at Wal-Mart. That's fair enough.
The thing is that some people use these stores as a pawn shop or a credit union. I'll buy impulsive now...then return said items when something better comes along. As long as you have a receipt...that really isn't a problem. You are following the rules, which protects you as a buyer. It is when you complain about a stores policy when its on the walls of the return desk that is completely insane. Either return with a receipt, consider your options without a receipt or just manage your money a little better.
Just don't return your toys to Walmart or Target for store credit because your son or daughter is out of diapers...

I can understand stores getting stricter about their return policies. I've yet to have trouble returning anything at Target. But I've stayed aware of their policy and I keep my receipts and stay aware of the time limit.
I also say that it depends on the employee. If you ask an employee for something and they quote some policy or other to you, leave and then come back later and ask a different employee. I'll bet you a recarded Wild Bill you get a different response. Most retail employees don't seem to give a damn about The Man because they know The Man doesn't give a damn about them, so they just do whatever. It's a roll of the dice. And everywhere everyone else works is just like where you work, nobody knows what's going on and the left hand doesn't even know if there IS a right hand, much less what it is doing, but people pretend to be more powerful and more aware than they are. This is why I always laugh when people post panic threads that some Wal-Mart employee told them GIJOE is cancelled and the store won't be getting any more, etc.
I bought a Rattler some time ago thinking a collector contact might want it, but as it turns out, they didn't. I held on to it for a while debating whether or not to keep it for myself, but I ended up deciding to take it back. I still had the receipt stuffed into the box, so it was all good. So somebody else got it who wanted it. Good for them.
Some people will abuse the system. I have a friend who is also a collector (who lives out-of-state) and he has money and he has bought up all the pegwarmers at stores where he lives and then returned them to podunk Wal-Marts when he traveled. The funny thing is, it didn't work as his stores just had bare pegs instead of pegwarmers that got covered up by Power Rangers, as I recall.
I've said it many times. I prophesy that soon, stores will stop accepting returns on collectible toy lines like GIJOE, Transformers, Star Wars, etc. All sales will be final.

I buy a lot of stuff from Target... my main source for DVDs/Blu-Rays besides Best Buy and Amazon, and they have sales quite often.
Within the last year, I've been buying back some of my 460+ DVDs that burned up in a fire, and replacing some DVDs with Blu-Rays. Problem is, I bought the DVDs on sale when they were at a good price, but many of them are still wrapped in plastic until I watch them. Recently, the Blu-Ray versions came out, and now I have DVD versions, still in plastic, and the newer BD versions.
It's been more than 90 days, but they still sell the EXACT same items at their stores, for roughly the same prices. I've thought several times about returning them, even if it's for store credit, since it's honestly a waste for me to have them, and I can recycle the store credit and will end up spending it on something else from Target anyways.
A) Is that possible to do without a receipt? I still have the receipt, but it's after the 90 day limit.
B) I don't know if I should do it, my other options are to give the DVDs to friends, or sell them at second-hand shops that buy used DVDs, but that's sort of stupid since they're still in the plastic.
DVDs: Godfather Trilogy, American Gangster, Matrix Trilogy... (Anyone on here want them?) Haha.
