I remember watching this as a kid, during my skating days, this and "North Shore" cause we also surfed, I recently caught it on Cinemax and what a trip! we used to worship this movie, and now it seemed pretty silly, but yet...I STILL LIKED IT! weird? must be some kinda nostalgia thing like with joes or something...boy I sure do miss riding my friends quarter pipe...I'd surely break my back trying it now. Anyways, damn was Tony Hawk young! and Chris Slater hated learning how to skate in this movie, they payed one of the guys $500 a day to teach him and he totally blew it off.

I loved that movie when I was kid. Haven't seen it in ages. Now I'll have to go buy it.

Oh yea i remember that movie...I always wanted that mini halfpipe that the weird kid built under ground.
Its funny... a few years ago i caught it on one of the network stations at like 2am. They changed the name from "gleaming the cube" to " a brothers revenge" that cracked me up. and i also cracked up when they show the home movies of slater and his father and brother playing ball in the yard and Slater wants nothing to do with either of them. |

Haha. That was one of my favorite movies! LOL. Although I admit to actually owning a VHS copy of North Shore; I thought Gleaming the Cube was a much better movie. I'm still waiting for the one long cross earring look to come back. LOL. Christian Slater and his punk look was so... what's the word... RAD!!! LOL.
I did have a skateboarding phase early on, but once I moved on to the surfing phase it was pretty much North Shore (and Point Break, lol) from then on out. "Nobody listens to Turtle!" It kind of sucks that the only surfing movies were North Shore and Blue Crush. LOL. I think I had a BMX phase too, but not too many movies on that one. LOL. |
