Not anytime soon. Mattel said that if the line was really successful they'd look into maybe trying to bring it to retailers (don't hold your breath, though and I wouldn't expect this to happen until maybe at the end of this year or early 2010). I'm thinking that they will re-release more He-Mans and Beast Mans at some point. Obviously the line is popular since the first two figures sold out in only about 5 weeks. I actually prefer the line stay online only. It makes it easy to find and is more affordable since only 1 figure is out per month. Yeah, the figure's are $20 each, but they are totally worth it and even if you bought every figure in a year it only adds up to about $300. Try buying every Star Wars or every Gi Joe figure in a year and you're looking at easily spending thousands.

I have all of these so far and have opened them - they are amazingly well done! I will be posting pics this weekend in our archive so you can all check them out in High Rez. Check the site on Monday and click the He-man logo on the far right under "archive" for a short cut to them.
when I ordered Skeletor yesterday I was very shocked and amazed that He-Man and Beast man were already sold out, sorry if you missed them.

I was hoping the He-man would look better...yeah traditional fans will love this stuff...but I was a bigger fan of the 2002 figures.

I would like to have one in my hands so I can feel them out. But I feel I may agree. Maybe if they bring these out in retail and update the figs based on what fans requests. Maybe then will they make the ones I think I would want to buy. For now I'm saving my cash for Joes. But I'm hurting to not get these.

For these reasons I was very against the price point and distribution of the new Masters of the Universe toy line. I was starting to consider picking up just He-Man and Skeletor but then He-Man became unavailable just a few days before Skeletor went on sale. I like to stretch out my toy budget as far as I can and seeing what else I can get for the same amount of money as the MotU figures makes it really hard for me to make that purchase. I also don't see how they can bring them to retail. Clearly I'm an annoyed MotU fan on the side of the fence that won't cave in and buy at that price. They're going to piss off a lot of fans who did pay $20 + shipping per figure if they release them at retail cheaper. And if they release them at retail for $20 and people are willing to pay that then who's not to say that other brands would follow suit and raise their prices. |
