Never started. My parents were smokers too. Most of my relatives aswell. I guess I always had better things to do with my time and money. Plus when I was younger I knew smoking wouldn't help me when I entered the service. My wife doesn't and has never smoked but her dad did and died 3 yrs ago of lung cancer. Very severe lung cancer. Watched him die all the way to his last breath in the hospital. Good luck all. I know it's not a hard thing to do. My parents now don't smoke due to my brother having a house fire over a lite cig. Lost my brothers girl friend in the fire and almost lost my bro and his son. Girlfriend fell a sleep with cig in hand and dropped it. Well anyway I have descided to focus on paying the last bit of my school loan back and saying I"MMM DEBT FREEEE!!!!!!! by summer and eat all organic as much as possbale.
I smoke. I've quit, failed, and started back. Its a son-of-a-bitch, so good luck to those who have recently quit, and cudos to those who have been quit for a while. I hate that I even started. One thing though, I've never understood those who only smoke a couple a day, or week, or month, or whatever. I mean, its so few, why bother?

Ok so my new years resolution was to stop smoking,so I decided to quit cold turkey. It has been 3 days since I had nicotine and I think I doing well,I have only broken 1 plate against the wall and only threatened to choke one of my co workers, lol, I was wondering if any of you recently quit smoking or do any of you have or had any new years resolutions
I decided against a resolution this year as I seldom stick to them. I'll just come up with a goal this month or next month and start working toward it like I did last year. Last edited by jaxscorpio; 01-05-2009 at 08:15 PM.. |

I quit back in high school. After that I would smoke here and there when I was out with friends all the way through to early grad school. Now, it's been a long while since I've smoked at all. Oh wait, I did have a cigar last year, does that count? Anyway, best of luck to all of you who are trying to quit.
This is what I need to do. I don't think I can manage it, though.

HA! I made a pack last more than 24 hours between yesterday and today. I haven't done that in like a year and a half! Go me.

Haven't had a smoke since Labor day. My gf nagged enough to get me to cut down and eventually stop. Had I just stopped, it never woulda worked. You need someone on your ass to do it that way or without nicoderm

I quit smoking the easy way by never starting.
Different things work for different people. Why not try it all at once? Quit cold turkey, get an accountability buddy or group and use a patch and every other method all at the same time.
