I saw Iron Maiden during their A Matter of Life and Death tour, at Allstate Arena (just outside of Chicago) in '06, and again last June during their Somewhere Back in Time tour, at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls (just south of Columbus). Maiden's freakin' incredible live (they've so much energy for guys so old! ;) ); seeing 'em perform definitely ranks among the best concert experiences I've ever had.
So - what are the best music concerts you've ever attended? |

Back in '93 I saw Counting Crows, the Cranberries and (London) Suede at Avalon in Boston. I saw Depeche Mode and the Cure recently at MSG.

Foo Fighters. Saw them twice this year and they kicked ass!!
- Tool - crappy seats - 311 x2 - awesome - Incubus x2 - inspiring - Third Eye Blind x2 - awesome - Yellowcard - tight but not exciting. - DeVotchKa - <-- amazing - Calexico <-- superamazing - Coheed & Cambria - Counting Crows - sucked. Adam Duritz needs to get his act together. - Maroon 5 - okay. - Dropkick Murphys - fun and LOUD. - Jimmie's Chicken Shack - fun and drunk - Serj Tankian Those are just the ones I can think of... |

I've been to so many concerts during the past 15 years. The best way to spend an evening or weekend. My favorite band is Pearl Jam. I've seen them live 45 times (including 1 Eddie Vedder solo show and a Cubs game where Ed sang during the 7th inning stretch). I've also gone to the Bonnaroo festival each of the past 4 years. Camping out with many options for live music over those 4 days and nights is a great way to spend a weekend.
My favorite Pearl Jam shows - Charlotte, NC in 1996, Burgettstown, PA in 1998 & 2000, Neil Young's Bridge School Benefit show in Mountain View, CA in 2001, State College, PA and Nobelsville, IN in 2003, Toledo, OH in 2004 (surprise guest appearance by Neil Young), London Ontario in 2005, Grand Rapids, MI in 2006, Lollapalooza in 2007 (also saw Modest Mouse there earlier the same day), and at Bonnaroo this past summer. Eddie Vedder solo in DC this year - Sat 3rd row from the stage thanks to the Pearl Jam fan club and Ed gave a bunch of guitar picks to me. 2001 Bridge School Benefit - Two days of all acoustic performances by Neil Young, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Ben Harper, Billy Idol, Dave Matthews and more. Neil Young - numerous times including two trips (2001 & 2006) to the Bridge School Benefit he organizes each year, Farm Aid 2002, and the Greendale tour in 2003 with people acting out the story of the album on stage. Bonnaroo 2008 - Went VIP this year for the prime camping spot and free buffets throughout the weekend. Saw Jack Johnson (Eddie Vedder joined him for one song) followed by a long set from Pearl Jam, B.B. King, Willie Nelson, The Raconteurs, Les Claypool, Death Cab for Cutie, O.A.R., heard Metallica from my tent - rained that night and was resting up for My Morning Jacket's long late night set which started later at midnight, Chris Rock, KANYE SUCKS!!! Bonnaroo 2007 - Tool, Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals, The Flaming Lips (extended late night set started around midnight), The White Stripes, John Paul Jones from Led Zeppelin was there joining various artists on stage throughout the weekend including a complete set with Ben Harper and ?uestlove Thompson for the Superjam, heard The Police from my campsite. Unfortunately had to miss Ween because they were playing at the same time as Ben Harper. Also saw Lewis Black in the Comedy tent. Bonnaroo 2006 - Radiohead's longest show ever and possibly the best live performance I've seen by any band, other performers I saw that weekend included Tom Petty, Beck, My Morning Jacket (long late night set started at midnight), Oysterhead, Sonic Youth, Superjam featuring Trey Anastasio and Mike Gordon from Phish with the Benevento/Russo Duo. Missed Les Claypool and most of Cypress Hill due to schedule conflicts. Phish - Burgettstown, PA and their festival IT in 2003 among the shows I've seen. IT was the first fest I went to and was held on a former Air Force base in Limestone ME. Phish played 3 sets on both days of the weekend and also performed on top of the control tower in the middle of the night Saturday with people repelling off the sides of the tower. Rolling Rock Town Fair 2.0 - They used a rotating stage so there was not much of a break between acts which included STP, Live, Incubus, and the Deftones. Lollapalooza 2003 with Jame's Addiction, Audioslave, Incubus and others Get Out and Vote 2008 with the Beastie Boys (Ben Stiller came on stage during their set), Ben Harper, Perry Farrell, Sheryl Crow and Norah Jones Pink Floyd in 1994 and Roger Waters in 2006 Weird Al at the Ohio State Fair in 2007 Radiohead near Cleveland, OH in 2001 and this past year (in addition to Roo) Tool numerous times (in addition to Roo) Weezer a few times with Tenacious D opening one of those shows (they were better than Weezer) Foo Fighters twice in Pittsburgh, Dave Grohl mentioned at both shows that his mom is from Pittsburgh The Who in Burgettstown, PA (before John Entwistle died) NIN a few times (was a little disappointed this year) KMFDM, Primus, Modest Mouse, Garbage, and Tori Amos in various cities over the years Last edited by NeilJam; 11-11-2008 at 02:15 AM.. |

I just saw the Drive By Truckers and The Holdsteady on Saturday for my birthday, but best ever? I dunno. I've driven 32 hours round trip to see Todd Snider, so maybe one of his.
