One time I was at wallie and I could hear two employees talking about a guy stealing on the action figure Isle. Well thats were I was and I looked around and no one else around. I walked around and walked up to them. I pulled out my wallet which had one of my badges in it and I introduce myself and I say "I could not help but over hear yall talking about someone stealing in the store could I be of assistance". They advised they had it under control and they walked away. I continued my shopping and had no further problems.

This happens to me too. If I'm feeling gamey, I look as shifty as possible and grab armloads of small things and skulk from aisle to aisle letting the stupid employee chase after me. Typically I just walk over to the employee who is pretending to fix shit and start asking lots of annoying questions until they decide I'm mentally ill and leave me alone.
Two of the girls at the registers at the local TRU are into my band, and are really cool to me. The snarky employees are the worst. I had a female cashier look at my Joes and Transformers and bitchily ask "Aren't you a little old for these?" I looked her in the eye and replied, "Aren't you a little old to be a cashier?" No offense to anyone over 30 who is a cashier but it's all I could come up with. Worst of all is when some unaccompanied little kid walks into an aisle I was alone in and starts talking to me. I start freaking out that people will think I'm a kidnapper or a pedophile and usually walk away. The stupid shit we put up with for GI Joe... |

Not sure if this was explained yet, I only went through 6 pages. Code Jeffery stands for potential shoplifter. Judging from your trip to TRU I can see how and why. When someone hangs around a department it does draw suspicion; that,s usually when a person steals. Going back and forth from one item to another tends to lead to the same thing (by the way I am not accusing you of anything, I am just telling you what I know in this area). I have caught many people who stole from my TRU (I was a dept manager then promoted to assistant manager) doing just this. I know for myself, when new stuff hits and lots of it, I tend to do the same thing. Pacing back and forth, not knowing what I want to buy. The best advice I can give you is this; next time this happens ask to speak to the store manager. Introduce yourself and tell him your a collector. Also bring up the incident right there. If you can calm his fears then everything should be good. The last thing a shoplifter will do is speak to a manager. One other thing you can do is when an associate asks you if you need help, chat with them for a second. I am a very private person when I shop, but I try to be polite to the employees. Please do not think I am judging you, I have been where your at so do not take it that way. If you need further assistance with this let me know and I might be able to help you.

Just got back from my local TRU... I dry-humped the shelf while I was picking up the Joe Mighty Muggs and walked around suspiciously to no avail.
No one even looked in my general direction. I even approached a TRU employee and just stood there... (though the hot girl at the check out did giggle at my 'little toys') Nothing. Wait... I may have had my ring of power on. |

wow code jeoffrey now thats comedy i used to work at toys r us and i never profiled anyone like that. I think that someone either has a vice against punks or they just would rather see a gated suburban mom and dad buying toys for their kids. the worst i did was watch little kids being suspicious, what i mean they get whatever they can get their grubby little hands on if you don't watch them. At one point i remember seeing cases of yu gi oh cards all torn through just because some kid wanted that special foil card.

i live in an area where shoplifting is a favorite pass time.
and where little kids know how to use a box cutter to shoplift. so i guess this code won't work?

I've never been followed or stopped by any employee but I do sometimes feel like I'm being watched by the security cameras; I have OCD pretty bad and get anxious sometimes in public places. I look over each figure I'm going to buy like a hawk; picking up each one, comparing paintjobs, sometimes holding 3 or 4 of the same figure in my hands comparing them, pacing back and forth in the aisle for 20 minutes trying to make up my mind, etc.
I've talked to the lady in the toy department at my Wal-mart and she's pretty cool about it though, so I guess the security camera thing is all in my head.
