Here's a break down:
BINALTECHS are great because they have Die-cast metal in them, but the only complaints I've seen surfacing about them is that the Paint tends to chip on the metal parts. Otherwise they are great, and have weight to them. ALTERNATORS are the same as BT, but they are all plastic, and way less expensive. No diecast. I myself prefer the Alt line, for money reasons. If you're buying the toy just for the looks, then you would be fine with the Alternators line. G1 Reissues range from the Toys R us reissues, to the Takara/Tomy encore reissues, to the Takara Book style collectible reissues. Alternators has been cancelled, and BTs are kind of back but it's a different line with new toys. (not a relaunch or continuation of the original Binaltech line)

Other than that all of the other big bots were part die-cast metal. The Jets, Soundwave, the tapes. Oh! Also the Contructicons were all plastic except for some of the joining parts that made him form Devastator. I don't mean the head or the Chest V, but the parts that held him together in combined form. |

Ok the u.s reissues (long gone from TRU now)were exact replicas for the most part of their G1 counterparts. The new encore line are the same molds(diecast and rubber tires)as the G1 bots, but with minor upgrades.Examples:The US re-issue transformers(the commenorative series) were TRU exclusives and true to form from G1 with the exception of Optimus prime who had short smoke stacks for safety reasons. The TRU re-issue transformers consisted of the following:
Series 1 G1 Optimus Prime G1 Ultra Magnus G1 Rodimus Major Series 2 G1 Powermaster Optimus Prime G1 Starscream 2003 Toys R Us Exclusives Series 3 G1 Jazz G1 Silverstreak G1 Thundercracker Series 4 G1 Prowl G1 Red Alert G1 Skywarp Series 5 G1 Tracks G1 Inferno G1 Hoist 2004 New G1 Smokescreen New G1 Grapple New G1 Rodimus Prime 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime G1 Dirge G1 Skids G1 Sideswipe G1 Ramjet G1 Stepper G1 Trailbreaker G1 Ironhide 2006 Exclusives G1 Astrotrain (HasbroToyShop.com Exclusive) Takara/Tomy's new encore line are G1 reissues with diecast and rubber tires just like the G! toys only with minor upgrades to some figures.Example being Trailbreakers eyes are blue like the cartoon.I really like the encore line and you can still get them fairly easily through BBTS.Here is the link: Transformers Encore Reissues Toys, Action Figures, and Collectibles at BigBadToyStore There is not much difference between the two re-issue lines besides some of the bots were re-issued in one and not the other. The quality on both is good and G1 accurate. You won't be dissapointed in either if you liked g1.HOPE THIS HELPED AND GOOD LUCK.

The Takara ones are true to the original toys. The TRU ones had their weapons altered a little bit. They were not chrome painted, just all black. And the missles don't fire for child safety reasons.
One huge dissappointment was the TRU ver. of G1 Prime had his smoke stacks cut off short, again for child safety reasons. Soo stupid. When we were kids we never had to worry about Prime's smokestacks being a danger. I would recommend you stay away from the TRU line, and go with the Takara ones. |

BTW a new line of Transformers called Alternity is set to be launched next month. They will be die-cast metal, only on a smaller scale than binaltech(think G1 prowls size).OP and Megs are the first two to be released.I am not sure about this line yet but if you like cars and die-cast in your Transformers these may be for you, although they are a little pricey.Just take a looksy, here is the link:

Mirage's mold was lost or broken, and unfortunately will NOT be reissued. Although there were some KO's from China. Regular, Clear Black, Red and blue.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that be close to how they made the KOs? |
