Hey all I currently collect Transformers,Joe,and MOTU. I am considering taking the leap into Star Wars. When I was a kid I had lots of Transformers,Joe,MOTU,and SW. SW is the only line I am currently NOT collecting that I played with as a kid and I would like to ease into collecting them. I really am only interested in the original trilogy stuff (even though I like Clone Wars and the first three episodes)collecting these other lines leaves me with a limited budget,so I am going to narrow my SW collecting strictly to the original 3.That being said what SW lines do you guys suggest? I have been out of the SW loop for quite awhile.I don't really want to go vintage evil-baying,I would like to limit e-bay as much as possible and on top of that the vintage stuff to me(although great)lacks articulation.I want to collect a newer line with better sculpts and articulation/gear......etc....etc.... I have been browsing Rebelscum.com looking at the different lines(wow lots of them)and photos but am still unsure. The POTF line looks pretty good to me,original trilogy characters and all....it seems to be exactly what I am looking for.I also saw some 30th anni and Lagacy collection figs that looked really good too.
Not sure what to do here!!! BBTS has lots of POTF stuff on clearance and I could catch up fairly quickly on that line without crippling my pocket book.I quess what I want to know is this. Are the POTF figs good action figures?Would I be better off or happier with a newer line like 30th or Legacy? Some input from you guys that have been collecting awhile would be nice and appreciated. Thanks War

I would start with the OTC and go from there. Leave the POTF2 stuff be and grab some of the newer stuff. OTC, SAGA2, 30TH AND LEGACY. Have fun with it and pick and choose.

I limit my Star Wars to specific figures, regardless of line/movie/etc..
Boba Fett and other Mandorlian Knights (Jango Fett, Jado Kast, etc..), Wedge Antilles, Han Solo, Chewbacca and "special" Clone Troopers (ones that look pretty cool and aren't just extra colors).

If I'm not mistaken, all the waves in the Legacy collection starting in January are going to be from the Original Triology. I can't wait to get my hands on the resculpted Luke and Han in Stromtrooper gear myself, and there is supposed to be a mystery Leia figure later in the year. Exciting times ahead.

I would try to watch the upcoming releases and stay current with them while going after selected figures from The Power of the Jedi on. (That was around 2000 or so)
So far I pretty much have every carded figure released to date as well as a duplicate opened. The quality has jumped by leaps and bounds in the last few years. Many of the figures have been redone multiple times, and each time they generally get better. (you could go to rebelscum, and work your way chronologically backwards when looking for a certain character. Find the most modern and go for it. you should be able to pick up many of them quite cheaply on ebay, especially if you are looking for loose figures) |

Thanks guys I was just about to order some of the POTF figs from BBTS and just wanted to see what you guys thought and I am glad I did. Was not sure what lines were better.I definately think the Legacy and 30th figs look better.I will go to Wal-nuts tonight and buy a few that I like. Thanks for the heads up.

Good luck mate ... collecting SW stuff will likely be a HUGE drain on your toy budget. I only collect Joes and TFs and have a challenging time as it is ...

I just collect Boba and Jango Fett and biker scouts. I agree that the quality of the newer figs are much better, although I think they lag behind Joes still.
I think it depends on how die-hard a fan of SW you are. You might consider collecting the iconic characters. With 6 movies plus an expanded universe, getting everything would be pricey, which is why I quit collecting them all a while back.

i still have most of my vintage figures...plus assorted totes and boxes with everything from POTF to current..it's been an expensive hobby...but my wife has been a trooper through it all(lmao)....i was collecting pretty much everything that came out,now i'm basically just picking the certain figures i want..esp since i re-started collecting JOE's...but if you're starting up now i say start with what's available now and if you see something that catches your eye online or whatever from an older collection ...go for it.
