last night i went to let my dog outside and when i called him to come back in he started letting out crys like he was in pain, so i go to see what was wrong and i noticed his back legs were not working, so i helped him inside and put him on his dog bed, well i spent some time with him and then went to sleep. when i woke up this morning he was still laying in his bed and i tried to get him to move but he cant. i think his hip display has finally caught up to him. he is very overweight and he is only 7 yrs old. i have had him on a diet for awhile but i think it might of been too late, he seems to be in good spirits but he hasnt been outside all day to use the bathroom and when i tried to pick him up, he started crying. im going to take him to the vet tomorrow but im really hoping they dont have to put him down, i would be heartbroken. anyway i really hope he will be ok.

My mom had the same problem with her dog and she was pretty old. In the end, my mom opted for her to be put down. I hope this isn't the case with yours...I hope everything goes well at the vet...

My parents have had dogs go both ways in this situation. One was corrected through meds (GI problem) and the other I believe had cancer/tumors or something. I hope all turns out well.

Man I am really sorry to hear about your dog. I pray everything works out. I lost my German Shepherd (Compion) back in 2006, he was 14 years old. It really crushed me, I was away at the time and my wife had to call me. He was the best beer drinking partner I ever had. By the way you describe him he/she might have been hit. I hope not. Was he/she in a yard?

The cancer is what got my moms dog. She couldn't walk, eat, and she was not lively at all. There was really nothing the vet could do so he suggested putting her down to ease her pain and suffering. Although my mom didn't want to, she did what she thought was best...My mom is still missing her to this day...
