I was including their benefits in my post. Right now I'm a student, so my parents are footing the bill for my "benefits". When I worked for Volvo, I made about 34 dollars an hour when my pay and benefits were combined. I got two weeks of paid vacation per year. When I began the process of applying for school and traveling to make the arrangments to move, I got paid for the hours I worked and lost the money for the time I wasn't there with the exception of my insurance coverage, which continued until my last day as an employee and decided not to partake in the extension via Cobra. (The insurance program, not the terrorist organization.)

Wow, way to misquote me horrendously.
I corrected Boba Fett to say this bailout is 'nationalism', not socialism. Then I made the point that 'universal healthcare' is an example of socialism. Then I made the clever observation that 'National Socialism' is abbreviated as "Nazi". Remember? The German Worker's Party? No? Hitler? Any of that ring a bell? We fought a war over it back in the forties? |

I'm all too happy to hear your Nazi comment was just a "clever observation," in other words I'm assuming you're saying you combined those words as a pun and not to make the argument that either of these actions are some Hitleresque policies, correct? If not, we may have to Godwin's law this.

He's not trying to be clever. According to Wikipedia, he's stating fact.
Nazi Party - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (help·info), abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the Nazi Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.

What? Seriously? Okay, I didn't think I would have had to defend this. Anyone who 'thinks' they know what Nazi stands for, go look it up. Then come back and post.
Our country is being taken from us - and slowly being converted to a nationalist socialism. The individual is losing his rights and the group is reaping the benefits. The US Government (Bush=Obama=Bugs Bunny) is taking our country away. My point is 'Nazi = BAD'. But you people don't even know what Nazi is, nor does most of the country, which is why we're doomed to repeat it. But this time, instead of non-Aryan people, you'll see CEOs, Oil men, Republicans, Christians and small business owners being marched into the showers. Jesus, do any of you people read stuff other then filecards? |

Oh, I know what the words put together mean, I was just assuming that he was simply putting ideological labels of two contemporary U.S. political issues together and not making the argument that either of these issues was comparable to the polices of the NSDAP.

I'm sorry. I'll cool off. I've totally hijacked this thread and I apologize. I just get heated easy.
Anyway...I vote no on the bailout. |

And to your point- the reason we don't allow political discussions on here is because, yes, many of us do read more than filecards, and engage in many, many discussions about those other things. But this is a place where we can come to talk about those filecards (and other Joeverse things) without other divisive topics wedging us apart. Take our discussion of "just toys" not as a sign of stupidity or immaturity, but our desire to chat with like minded people about a topic many others around us may not have interest/knowledge in. anyway... i think i've officially killed this thread.
