I'm freaked out because I just found out that someone hacked into my email account and sent 2 emails to all of my contacts. It was the same email sent twice. Once to the first half of my contacts, and then once again to the second half of my contacts. It seems that Hotmail only allows someone to send an email to only 50 people at once.
After the email was sent the person deleted all of my contacts from my contact list.
Here is a copy of the email that was sent...
"Dear firend:
Hello. How are you doing recently? Some days ago, I came across a wonderful electronic company on the web and had a pleasant chat with the sales manager. He told me that they are planning to lower the prices greatly in order to adapt to the global economic crisis, so that they can expand their overseas market. And they are doing the sales promotion now for the coming Christmas! I have bought an iphone and a computer, and i am very satisfied with their items and services. If you have time, you can have a look. www.tvtcn.com"
Has anyone encountered this before? Do you think there is a way to find out who did this and take some sort of legal action? As of right now I created a new password and I have emailed everyone assuring them that I did not send that email.
I'm still freaked out though. Hopefully they used my email just to send that junk mail out and not to do anything else. I can't even begin to think about how many sites I have signed up to that I use that email address with, especially on sites where I use my credit card and other information. It would be just an inconvenience to have to change my password and other information at every site that I'm signed up to.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you think that I should just take it easy and not worry because it just might be a one time freak occurance? Any help on this matter would be a great help.
Jack aka Scoop!

But it would seem whoever sent the message works with the people of tvtcn.com or would like to ruin them in a convoluted plot.
I would see if you could pursue legal action or see if you could trace the last IP address to use that mail account. |

If you use an email client, it is likely some kind of malcode. Make sure you change the password after you make sure your system is clean. Beyond that, the internet is pretty much as uncontrolled as the wild west, and spam is big business for some people - hijacking email accounts is the way to send them out. |
