The utter disillusion I feel right now...I just can't put into words. Let me break this down from the very beginning....... Christmas started out as a celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, a man who was supposedly (I'm not religious, but I'm not taking a swing at religion here, either) the son of God come to die for our sins. First, we added a tree with lights. Ok, fairly harmless, it a decoration, no big deal, really. Soon we exchange prsents. While, a little farther off, one could certainly argue this in the spirit of GIVING, a selfless act that is not out of line with Jesus' teachings. Next we invent Santa Claus, taking practically all religious aspect away from a child's viewpoint. A steady continual commercialization with characters, toys, sales, etc. until it becomes so much about these things that somehow we get into a panic about shopping. Then we dedicate a day to this shopping and increase this want and panic even more. Then we end up with bodies. This certainly isnt the first year I've heard of this happening. Its amazing that in this country, in this day of age, someone could get "trampled to death," least of all over a sale. This isn't an attack on Christianity, its a look at human beings. I know this doesnt apply to you tankers (I hope) you all have been some of the nicest guys and gals I've known. But I'm sure you share my sentiment in this when I ask "What happened?"
May your seasons, and your holidays, remain intact, and remember our happy childhood memories of Christmas, and make new onesfor those we love.

Not commercialism fault It's just plain greed. They could have easily have controled them selves and because the didn't something evil happened.

This story angers me and makes me very sad at the same time. Why did a man have to lose his life over TVs or whatever the "Hot" item was? Why didnt one person out of the deranged crowd just lend him a hand? How could you let someone die like that? Why didnt one person besides store Employees or Police or the EMTs help him? Are we really so lost in this world that someones life doesnt matter anymore. I have to raise my daughter in this world....and Im scared for her and myself........ |

it certainly was predictable. most other stores seem intelligent enough to figure this out and take precaustions. i've gone thru lines at best buy twice and they had tickets, vouchers and and single file lines. hours before you open and you see hundreds, maybe a thousand people and you have no measures in place for orderly entrance and exit, how can you not? it's a very simple concept and plenty of other stores are smart enough to care. walmart simple does not care but i'm sure they will after loosing millions in lawsuits. it's very sad that it will take that kind of action for them to be proactive instead of reactive.
again, this was entirely preventable with simple measures. competent management could have and should have seen the potential harm in the situation an reacted. to say this was a random abnormal event inwhich walmart could not have predicted or prevented is utter nonesense. again, other stores take measures, you don't think they did that randomly do you? i shop walmart because it's cheap and i'm tight on money. i'm a well educated professional that just happens to have a family of four on one salary which means walmart and target are my friends vs. kohls, sears and jcpennys. i can not stand nor will nto shop at apple stores due to the prevailing 'i'm more enlightened than you' attitude i've been subjected too while shpping there. it's much like acrocrombie and other socially upward/mobile/elite establishments. kmart on the other hand is the lowest common denominator in my opinion. the employees simply do not care, teh state of shambles the store is in and service are enough to turn off anyone. i don't judge poeple that shop at stores, i judge the store itself. i'm one of the fence riders that has bought from high end stores and frequents kmart. i tend to see plenty of people like me, just trying to buy something no matter what thier background. what i find destestable are the attitudes you face from retail establishments based on profiling. i know and have plenty of the kindest poor poeple you could know and likewise with well to do people and i know an equal if not more of absolutely abhorent people of both backgrounds as well. prejudice and indiffernece knows no ecomonic boundaries. unless you mix well, you tend to see more of one thing than another which taints your vision of reality. i buy joes from kmart and coffee from starbucks, both are full of a'holes. Now you're just making excuses for people not taking personal responsibility for their actions. Walmart should have done this...Walmart should have done that! How about the damn customers not acting like savages and running over other customers to save some green on a stupid non-essential product?! It almost seems like you're saying Walmart intentionally caused this to happen. Walmart has money so they're automatically at fault here? Some fat ass turns into Jabba the Hutt wolfing down cheeseburgers at McDonalds and somehow it's McDonald's fault and the restaurant gets sued because that fat-ass didn't have self control. Believe it or not, people can still make their own choices...But, since the EVIL corporation has more money they get punished for someone else's failure to take responsibility for themselves. Not every Big-box corporation is an evil empire bent on watching the poor suffer! That's just narrow-minded thinking that I'm guessing is based on jealousy. I'm no advocate for Walmart but I am sick and tired of businesses, no matter how huge or how tiny, getting blamed and sued for idiots doing idiotic things. And people wonder why things cost so much these days! |

My Dog and My Cat Love each other very much. They live together and don't like being apart. However, much like humans, my cat can't stand to be anywhere near the other cat.
