I collect a vast variety of toys, and i have noticed that lately there has been a ton of stuff flooding ebay that usually isnt on there that much and the items go for cheaper than usual.
I have been able to build up my Ghostbuters, MASK, GI Joe, MOTU, and other 80's lines now for a fraction of what it used to cost. Anyone else notice this? |

I have noticed it on the vintage stuff.I picked up a wolverine w/cover girl for under 20$ shipped as well as a complete v1.5 stalker for less then 10$. Both in good condition.I think after christmas we will see a lot of joe stuff on clearance.I have a wal-mart with 30-40 vehicles on the top shelf and pegs stuffed.I don't even stop there anymore because I know they don't have room to bring anything new out.

Bad economy for me means much, much less. I count what I have as a blessing and learn to appreciate it more.
But once I get a full time job, I plan on purchasing more. Just now, I review my purchases wisely and that doesn't mean buying 10 Mango vipers because they are on sale on the bay. But they are definitely cheaper. But not always, I'm still waiting for the new comic packs to hit retail. |

I have noticed an increase in items on ebay and good deals are there for the taking. The big items are still seling nicely due to all that want them but all your basic across the board items are cheaper. I have always split my life into 2 incomes hobbie and family. I never spend my paycheck on joes just on home and family. I make extra cash from wheeling and dealing and this supports my vast collecting desires JOES, guns, ammo, reloading equipment, tools , baseball cards, war collectables, antique furniture and other habits. As for the coming shitstorm. I hope your debt free and have a homestead set up. The free will be the one with no debt and self-sustainers. I know most of you can't do that with all your joes sucking your money up.

Look at the number of people selling off collections here on the tank.
Bad economy is good for some collector's and bad for others. Some can afford to buy up the stuff being sold at bargain prices by those that need to get rid of it to pay the bills. I feel bad about it. It's someone's hard earned collection that they have to get rid of to pay the bills. I like it because I get what I want at good prices, but it sucks because that could be me in a couple of years. It's a catch-22. That it's good for some, means that it's bad for others.

Vintage Joes appear to be cheaper, but the 25th line is about the same. Snake eyes w/black timber is cheaper than it was 8 months ago, they usedto gor for well over 100 bucks, lucky if you can get it for 80 now.

It's up and down. I've noticed that some of the more high end stuff in good condition is still around the same price give or take a few bucks. It's the big "lots" of stuff that seem to be the bargin now. People just want to clear out their old junk and don't want to hassle listing individually. It's too expensive and time consuming. But the problem with buying big lots for the random good stuff is then your left with a big mess of junk that you can't unload.

Go to toy shows. My friend picked up an entire set of 30th SW including UGH & mcquarries for about $1 a figure.
One guy was selling older 25th Joes for $2 each and vehicles for $5 each. |

Hell, I may have to sell my collection too. I've seen more than a few Tankers do it over the past year and never thought I would have to. Unfortunately when times get tough hobbies are the first to go.
I stopped buying comics and video games in the spring, by mid summer no more new Joes for me. If this keeps up I'll be eating my dog soon. |
