you have it easy. my ex-neighbor called the police and actually went down to the police department to file a tresspassing charge because my 13lb pekingnesse escaped and walked across his yard. i kid you not...we had to go to court and as soon as the judge saw a picture of our dog she threw the charge out. regardless of the absurdity, we were told that legally, if it happened 3 more times, we could have our dog taken. thankfully they moved within a year from that. they also screamed at my kids when toys landed on thier grass. it's amazing the lengths people will go to be complete and utter a'holes.
I would have left them a flaming bag of "pekingnesse surprises" on their door step. My neighbors know better..........................we have a 70 lbs german sheppard.

I get the same way with my dogs because they are practically my kids, lol. They don't bark outside but they are very friendly dogs and like to approach people and jump on them to say hello and, I can understand that not everyone welcomes that and I always make sure they don't do it unless they surprise me with it, but I hate when people give my dogs dirty looks because of it. They are both just happy babies and like people. If you don't like it, fine, I always apologise when they try to jump on people, but there is no need to give an animal a dirty look.

The best option here is to just talk to them. You're an adult, there's no need for immature revenge fantasies. If I was in your shoes I'd just introduce myself to them and talk about it. I'm there's a reasonable compromise that can be reached between the both of you. Dogs are great, but they can be pretty g-ddamn annoying.

Anonymous complaint won't hold up in court, but if you don't do anything about it(like my jackass neighbor) and there is Dog Barking laws in your county, all I needed to do was go down to the station, give them the address and times I am being bothered, and call them out when I hear it. After the first warning they get a wanring, the next time you get fined 85$ per call if I complain and the officer hears the barking dog when he arrives. That is how it is here so enough of those and I decide to take it to court then I have the law evidence on my side that the dog is being a nuiseance and the judge can order the animal de-barked (which sounds horrible to do to an animal) so it is best to work it with your neighobr unlike mine did. I wish they were understanding that 10pm - 4am is the wrong time for 2 rampaining screahcing dogs! I can understand during the day when peopel are awake, but don;t thrust your animals bad behavior the owner allows out when people are sleeping! not even for 1 minute!

The thing that I am concerned about is, I don't leave him out. He is a rescue dog so he does have some people issues but that's not his fault. It's not like I am leaving him out for hours and hours at a time becasue that is pure neglegence. He barks at their side of the fence, I know they have kids, and I hope to hell those little bastards are not antagonizing my dog. If that is the case and they have a bias towards my dog, they can make my life very miserable, cause 1) he Is a Dobe and that is to his disadvantage, and 2) i only leave him out for 10- 20 minutes at a time. He is going to bark, thats what gaurd dogs do.....I have a feeling my life is going to get complicated cause some idiot doesn't like dogs moves in and I happen to have one and live next door......dammit this is some BS.
Bottom line, you apparently keep the possible noise under control; the dog has his own fenced-in yard; you own your home and they rent. Any issues seem to be theirs. Also, I don't think leaving him outside for more than 10 or 20 minutes is neglect. And I also think that any social problems the dog might have aren't his, they're yours. Being a responsible dog owner is not too far off from being a parent, but the dog never reaches a legal mental age as does a child. Me, I just have fish and they seem to die on a regular basis. So, I'm really just an aquarium owner. |
