There is NO denying that "Appetite" is what could be called a "classic" album of it's type of music, as is "Shout at the Devil" and some of the other albums again of this type and time period that really just stand out from all the other metal / hair band crap that surrounded them at the time.
Trust me, I have most of them. I know a lot of people do not like this music and think it is all crap (as I do of rap music

) but there are some of the albums like this that really are good. Just like I understand there ARE some rap albums that really are important to that type of music too ("Liscenced To Ill", "The Chronic", "As Nasty As they Wanna Be", etc).
Again just as some people will say that Warrant and some of the other "metal bands" of the time are crap (and they were ), so was Vanilla Ice.

At least GNR stood out as one of the really more "harder" bands and is considered a classic now, a lot like AC/DC. Madien, Ozzy, Crue, and some of the other better metal / hard rock bands of the 80's.
