cops will tell you, simple facts, don't leave valuables in plain sight in your car. it's not his fault but he certainly made himself and easy target. check the signs most public buildings, there are usually warnings about not leaving valuables in your car. unfortunately, it's just the times we live in.
i too grew up in a community where you never locked your doors. times change, we have to change with them. we had our gps stolen from our truck a couple months ago, just after warning my wife for the umteenth time not to leave stuff in the truck (she was the type that never thought it would happen to her). thankfully she brought in her purse but we lost a window, music cd's and our gps as a result of our carelessness and bad luck. again, it's not our fault it happened but we did not take what is considered normal precautions by removing such things. i've learned this leason in my high school years when i had my car broken into twice. unfortunately, many don't seem to bother until after they have had the misfortune of being robbed. i'm actually more worried about my ride into work on the train where robberies are rising exponetially than i am of my car or home being broken into (again). odds are much higher on the train. i never have my ipod out in sight, i never keep my phone out in view, etc. it's just common sense and prudent judgement. hell, the metro system even has all this in their safety brochures and every day i see people that don't bother and i have to wonder, is it they don't care or do they just think it won't happen to them? you are VERY luck in that they were caught and you will atleast see some measure of justice (unlikely it will be much after they plea out) and recevie your stuff back. i've never been that lucky. wishing these people unthinkable harm is a bit overkill though. they broke into a car, they didn't rob soeone with a gun, or beat a homeless person for the thrill of it. there are far worse crimes being committed, just keep some perspective... i'm sorry this happened to you but your mcuh more lucky than the tens or hundreds of thousands of others that this happens to.

Actually, I like Vlad Tepes' way of dealing with criminals.
The taliban is truly a bunch of amateurs compared to him. Call me Draconian, I don't care. People don't mess with me or my property because they know they will probably get blasted if they do. PS.... Vlad Tepes adopted the method of impaling criminals and enemies and raising them aloft in the town square for all to see. Almost any crime, from lying and stealing to killing, could be punished by impalement. Being so confident in the effectiveness of his law, Dracula placed a golden cup on display in the central square of Tirgoviste. The cup could be used by thirsty travelers, but had to remain on the square. According to the available historic sources, it was never stolen and remained entirely unmolested throughout Vlad's reign. Crime and corruption ceased; commerce and culture thrived, and many Romanians to this day view Vlad Tepes as a hero for his fierce insistence on honesty and order. This is not someone we should be emulating or admiring.

If every rapist was shot dead in the streets by their would-be victims, there wouldn't be anymore rapes.

Delaware? Don't you people arrest and prosecute Americans if they shoot criminals who break into their private homes? Nice. Truly, nice. Last edited by Bravestarr; 11-01-2008 at 10:30 PM.. |

Nah, I would impale someone for murder or rape, though.
In so destroying another man's property and stealing his personal property from him, I see good reason to chop off a finger or two for each kid involved. I wouldn't do that to just anyone, but these kids could be doing homework or scrubbing cars at the carwash. By destroying this guy's property and stealing from him, they have proven that they don't belong among the law-abiding. They should rot in prison for a while. Once they are 18, and still doing stuff like this, they will all hopefully get their butt-rapes in prison. If its a second offence Lock em up for a few months, let Bubba have a turn with em. Any offence after that the victim should be able to come up with the punishment. Problem with todays criminal justice is the civil liberty lawyers who look out for everyone but the victim, because to them everyone is a victim. For crying out loud, people who molest children just have to register and put signs in their yards when they get out. Anyone who willfully harms someone unable to defend themselves shouldn't be rehabilitated at taxpayers expense, take their citizenship and send them to a country where people do lose body parts for commiting crimes. See if they are willing to lose their balls of they molest a kid. |
