Frustrating story...
So I was taking the train from work at Midtown Manhattan to my GF's sisters apartment for dinner in the Upper West Side of NYC. And I had to switch trains in the process. But with all the construction at the 59th (Columbia Circle) street stop I took a wrong turn in the connecting station and accidently exited the station in error. The service door was open so without thinking I just slipped by, thinking I had already paid my fair and I had an unlimited train pass. I was also thinking at the same time about a vintage GI Joe item on eBay. But as soon as I got through back to the station, this undercover NYPD officer called on to me and gave me a ticket with a $100 fine for entering the station without paying the fare. I explained to the officer that it was a long day at work, and I had made an honest mistake and that I even showed him my unlimited pass. Being unforgiving, he wouldn't give me a pass but he said I should call the Train adjucation center tomorrow and try to persuade them to reduce the fine being that it was my first offense. I wonder if anyone had this happen to them or something similar. Please share your experiences. With a hundred bucks I could have used it to buy more Joes. :( Last edited by CG76; 10-30-2008 at 07:23 PM.. |

Sometimes, cops can be hardasses, especially at the end of the month when they are trying to make their monthly quota. They'll stop you for anything.

Trying to explain to them why it happened doesn't matter to a cop. They don't care, when they decide to stick you with a ticket, your getting that ticket, no matter what you say to them. There is so many crooked cops out there nowadays, it just keeps getting worse every year. I'm not saying every cop is crooked, but most are. Alot of them think there better than you, and the power goes right to there heads. I have received many tickets in my life, I even had a cop search my car without asking and no probable cause...

Yeah, dinner was good at least.
I dunno why cops are such jerks sometimes. I once got pulled over in front of my house on a Saturday morning. They are so into their quotas it's horrible. Quote:
