The cop who once pulled me over was a really rude. He pulled me over because I slowed down considerably at a stop sign but not completely as there was no traffic or people around 7 am on a Saturday. He yelled at me even as I was very polite to him.
A lot of folks in my area get pulled over I noticed, even if the roads are generally quiet. It's probably because it's profitable. Last edited by CG76; 10-30-2008 at 10:48 PM.. |

power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely. the corruption is not limited to the Police force, it goes all the way up to the top of the ladder, and I think as a civilian that I shouldn't bother with stuff that is out of my control because ultimately it will drive me crazy...

Instead of only focusing on speeders, they should start cracking down on some real crime. Real crime like those evil scalpers, figure swappers and people who steal the figures right out of the package! LOL...

Your story reminds me of getting pulled over at 2 am on my way home from Wal-Mart because "it didn't look like you had your seat-belt on when you went by", got popped the $1000.00 ticket for not having insurance (just got my new cards, forgot to put them in my wallet), went down and showed the proof that I DID have insurance, and just got charged the $100.00 fine for "Not having my proof of insurance on me." Which is 900.00 better, but still, a C-Note for not having my proof on me that I didn't commit a crime? What do I have to carry to prove I didn't rob a bank? |

Well today in my town I saw cops everywhere. I saw 3 people stopped today and that is pretty rare. If this is a quota issue, then Yes, I would agree fully that some cops may be out to nail you on a license plate light. But if they know they have a quota then bust anyone and everyone even if they do 5 mph over the speed limit and if they did it everyday then they wouldn't have to do it at the end of the month. I know I am rambling.. but bottom line.. quit nitpicking at people that make small meaningless mistakes and start trying to fix the bigger problems in America and make this country a better place to live.
First and foremost, if you are a foreigner in their state and you are speeding, you will get the ticket. No, you don't get the warning when you have an Alabama tag in New York state. No, you don't get a "just slow it down, Sir." No, you get a ticket. The reason you get the ticket is because they know full well that the probability is low that you will appear in court and fight the system. Why? Because you are a foreigner, and you are not going to probably take the time to find the court and appear on the specified date. They know this, and expect the cash payment from you. Second of all, many (notice I didn't say ALL) big city cops are not the type that can relate to the average citizen. Many (again, not all) are hopped up on steroids and other illegal drugs in order to make themselves "larger" and more "intimidating." The problem with these idiots is that not only have they permanently damaged their brain chemistry, they have also made themselves more prone to explosive moments of rage that are totally unjustifiable. Certain steroids make men more prone to anger and violence because their testosterone levels have been altered to ten-twenty times the normal level. Third, and finally, I don't drive through big cities if I can help it. The primary reasons are that I am the foreigner that they want to take money away from, and I am not in the mood to confront them because there is a distinct chance he's a juice-head who will tazer me for asking questions. Yes, I ask questions. I ask TONS of questions during traffic stops. While I am polite, I ask everything I am allowed to ask under the provisions of the Constitution. Pull me over for speeding? Let me see the radar gun. Not gonna let me see it? Fine, I will assume that the cop is a liar trying to get my money to the city government. Yes, I view many cops as cash register jockeys for their local province. Why is that? Because many city, county, state budgets do not have the money that they require, so I am fairly certain that some mayors or other forms of local leadership expect their police leadership to collect the money that the locale does not have. This comes in the form of tickets to unsuspecting motorists. Have you ever noticed how some speed limits are ridiculously low in certain places, yet they are normal in others? For example, driving down a two lane road there is a low speed limit sign of 35 MPH. This roadway is 10 miles long, and has no residential or commercial property nearby. Hell, there is nothing there at all, just open fields. Yet, when you drive down another two lane road in a residential/business area, the speed limit is 45 MPH. Now, given the fact that there are residential homes, additional vehicles, more intersections and commercial businesses in the area, one would think the speed limit would be 35 MPH here, and 45 MPH when driving through the middle of nowhere. But no, the polar opposite is true. Wanna know why? Because there are SPEED TRAPS all over the 35 MPH zone, that's why. It's easy money for the department/city/whatever, and the folks who are driving to work will finance the coffers. |

that sucks dude. fight the case if you have the proof that you had a unlimited pass.
a buddy of mine got a ticket for J-walking because he was the only one "speaking" up out of the bunch of us to the cop trying to make sure he gets his bike back...

Two years ago I was home for Christmas and decided to drive across the state line into VA (I grew up in northern NC) to visit my aunt. I was driving my mother's car, as I don't have a need for an automobile any longer. I passed a state trooper and a few minutes later he pulled up behind me, flashing his lights. Well, my mother had a radar detector which is illegal in VA. But, here's the kicker; the damn thing didn't work anymore but apparently still gave off a signal that set off his radar detector detector. So I got a hundred dollar ticket that I wouldn't be around to dispute when it came time. My mother just paid it, I guess. When he swaggered up to the window, I noticed him regarding the sticker my mother kept on her rear windsheild that said she gave money to the national order of police or whatever it was. After I explained that the detector didn't work, he still wrote me the ticket. So when he went back to his car, I got out and peeled the sticker off the inside of the back windsheild and took it to him. It didn't seem to even phase him, but I felt a little better. Actually, I was more concerned he'd shoot me, but it didn't work out that way.

You would have probably eaten a .357 slug if he was. Again, you cannot do stuff like that anymore because you risk getting the baton or the tazer for using your intellect around cops these days. PS.... The bit about the radar detector-detector was funny. PPS.... Virginia is a communist state. I never travel without my radar detector, and I never travel through Virginia either. |
