My favorite band is Dream Theater. Progressive has been my favorite, though I love all metal from heavy rock to hard core. Here are some early influances-Testament, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax, Metallica, Annihilator, Pantera ,Yes, Rush, Fates Warning, Pink Floyd, Dio, Jorn, Staic x, tool, Mudvain, Slayer, Ark ..... Disturbed, . Mostly I listen to christian stuff due to my convictions (except for reviewing for concepts or song ideas). PM me if you want more on that. There are a few christian bands, Project 86, Demon Hunter, Deliverance (sounds like Testament), these bands are good and have great messages. Peace, SC.

13 pages of thread and no one's mentioned Lord Gore? Brutal.
Adding some more to my previous list... Satyricon Ensiferum Menacer Bathory Finntroll Thyrfing And more (slightly) old school -- Danzig. -After- leaving The Misfits, I gotta say he got so much better. Classic metal right there, sitting with the greats like Motorhead and Dio. |

Did anyone ever see Moterhead's video where the drummer does this fast 'tom' roll in the recording and he never does it in the video, he is still playing a 2-4 beat, I couldn't believe it! LOL!
