I know that most of us work for a living, but I have to ask everyone a question.
What do you do when you have a boss from hell? I know that many of you may be blessed with intelligent, thoughtful and sophisticated bosses. However, many of us, LIKE ME, are working for incompetent, deceptive, ignorant and arrogant creatures that are still considered human beings. What does a decent person do when he is forced to work for a fracking idiot who would die of starvation in another country???? As an aside conversation, what kind of boss do you have? Do you have any horror stories to share, or has it been a bed of roses for you? Last edited by Bravestarr; 10-08-2008 at 04:23 AM.. |

Deal with it and hunt for another job. Seriously, unless he's doing something illegal or against company policy enough that you can get him canned, you're SOL.
***holes are everywhere, though, so make sure you don't jump from one foot in a dogmuffin to an overused latine pit. |

The critical thing to remember is that I am an employee of the government, and I have to tell you that this place is littered with fools who would normally be starving in the streets. I really am wondering why the hell I am part of this bureaucracy. Europe was lots of fun, but it's been shit city ever since I left. I do enjoy fighting crime, though. |

Suck it up or find a new job...
I've been there man. I used to work for this guy who was a real sh*t. He was called in by our HQ in Virginia to help improve sales and the overall performance of the company in general. Came in every morning just to do a roll call, leave before lunch and then come back for another one. And when he called your name, he'd do it in a very loud and somewhat angry voice that disrupted the whole office. And that's when he was in a good mood. When he was in a bad mood, he'd nit-pick everything you were doing. The slightest thing would piss him off. He'd even go as far as call you names. He was a real piece of work. And those seven (7) months that he was there and he did that, the opposite of what he was called in to do happened. And eventhough everyone knew what was pulling us down, HR had to go call some firm to help analyze why morale was low. They conducted one on one interviews for weeks. And then finally, after everyone was interviewed, you can guess what the findings were... I was told that when they gave him teh news, that guy from Virginia could not believe it. He was really shocked because he thought he was doing a splendid job of keeping things in check. It absolutely never ocurred to him that he was being an a**hole. What a douche right?

Sounds to me like you had a regular shit-head in your office who was ruinous for employee morale. Low morale is the second worst thing to deal with in a work environment, with open hostility being the absolute worst. I hate the fact that morale is so low where I work, and I am really hopeful that I can get myself a new assignment this summer that is worth having. Ever been to Alaska? |

You can say that again. It came to a point where I hated coming in for work. And a lot of people started jumping ship...
Really? Why is that, Crab Mentality? No, I haven't. But I almost did. A friend who works there tried to hook me up. I agreed but had to back out at the last minute. Why are you asking? Quote:

Man, that's just whack! I would've snapped too if I were in your shoes.
I don't know how people can be so f*cking insensitive... I agree with you though. Do something that you love. I mean yeah, some people will argue that you can't choose what kind of job you get. But you can certainly choose what job to take. Money is good. We all need it. But if you're making that money in a place that turns you into something you're not. Is it worth all the hassle? At the end of the day, it isn't worth it if it doesn't make you happy! Quote:

This ma be a long read, but here goes an option:
BE DISRUPTIVE! My boss is a liar. He doesn't have the ability to tell us what's needed to be done to free up money for our raises. Instead he blames us for doing something wrong. He's deceptive. He leads other employees to believe pride in your company is the way to go. Snitch on other employees whenever they're doing something wrong, giving the illusion that he's too sharp for you to pull something on him. The snitches get a temporary "good job" feeling rather than a "butt smeller licker" feeling, think they are the bosses new buddy, then get fired. My boss is a backstabber too. My boss is a traitor. He went on campaign for two weeks about how he is "the people's boss", won an academy award for showing genuine concern and appreciation for hard working employees and how he was gonna meet our needs for a better work experience. Then he calls a meeting where the assistant C.E.O. attends. He blessed us with his appearance to brag about his expensive lifestyle and how he worked to get there without complaining about everything every two minutes and that next time we feel like bitching, instead to just think about him when he drives his whatever car he feels like driving today into the parking lot and straight into his parking space. Jerk boss right? SOL, deal with it until you get another job. That's just the way life is. It's not so bad when you realize you're doing it for your family, come to terms with it and just show up and be productive. Use your human resources for reference on your resume btw in case you didn't know that. They receive the call from potential employers, will share zero negativity about your information and make sure the questions asked about you are kept at a legal, professional level. It's a safe bet because an employer who doesn't trust you will bring the same results: Jerk Boss! And if the employer is using Human Resources to do the hiring, well considering they're interested in you and a pro is gonna call another pro... -insert slot machine jackpot noise here- You HissTankers: My NEW BRETHREN, do not share this information with anybody. This is a source of information that is not yet exploited. 90% of people still do not do this. I'm talking about the HR reference and am referring to those of you who may get the shaft if a potential employer calls your boss. ...dude, I gotta get ready for work so I'll continue later. BE ON TIME, DON'T GET CANNED, HAVE A GREAT DAY AND GOOD LUCK with the work day my fellow tank'meisters. And if you're ready to snap or do something stupid that might get you axed at work, did you see that Ultimate Battle Pack Target Exclusive? In other words, OMG did ya' see that Tank And Steelers Peg And what is says? |
