Let me preface by saying this:
I am a 35 year old married man with two jobs and a full-time career as a student of graphic design. Had to say it just to make myself feel better about... myself. This happened when the 25th Joes first appeared. I was walking through the aisles at Toys R Us/Babies R Us, with my mom in tow. We were shopping for my sisters baby shower. I said to my Mom: "Hey mind if we hit the Star Wars aisle really quick?" "No, not at all..." So we were headed in that general direction when I saw the Joe & Cobra 5 packs. I stopped dead in my tracks for a brief second before taking off toward them at a full sprint. I snatched up the first one, opened it and hit the button on the logo to make the music start. I had a smile from ear-to-ear... When my mom caught up she said: "Did you really just run to the GI Joe aisle?" "Uh-huh, but look how cool they are!" "OK, give them here, mommy will buy them for you..." Embarrassing? Hell yeah, but I didn't care, the Joes were back! I seldom get anything cool from my parents since my younger sister mooches all the money out of them! They have some sort of attitude like: He is the oldest, has his own job, car and house, so he doesn't need anything from us. Meanwhile, my younger sister gets anything she wants at anytime! Okay, rant over! Yes, I am a nerd too, so don't think that I am cool or something! Now that I think about it, I really am a super nerd. I listen to Talk Radio, instead of MTV and John Stewart!!!! Boooooooooo, hissssssssssss!!!!!!!!!! Last edited by Bravestarr; 10-07-2008 at 09:41 PM.. |

A paleontologist, that's awesome! (No sarcasm, seriously). I wish I would've got into that instead of accounting, I love dinosaurs. Well on that note, I'm an accountant who plays in a band and collects toys also. Mine's a metal band though.

This is a very difficult question for me to answer, since essentially everything I've ever done in my entire life is defined by a quality of nerdiness. I'm the dork that other dorks point to and say "HE'S a frakkin' dork!" so they feel better about themselves, a veritable outcast among outcasts. I get picked on at cons.
The nerdiest thing that comes to mind is not actually a toy thing, but rather Hermione Granger moments from school. I was that kid who always enthusiastically raised my hand to answer EVERY QUESTION the teacher asked, so much so that some teachers restricted me from answering more than 1-3 questions per subject which I found unceasingly infuriating and heartbreaking. Teachers wrote comments like this on my all-A's report cards: "...is a wonderful student and a pleasure to teach." I also did not let even friends copy my work because that was unethical! That, and my parents made me carry one of my dad's old briefcases to school 'til I was in the 6th grade. My nerdiness was indoctrinated at a very early age. |

"wow" LMAO Did my nerdness amaze you? My mom still has the video somewhere. I had lots of fun doing that video and had no idea what was in store for me in middle school. I remember in 7th grade rushing home to catch Operation Dragonfire when it came out. I got ridiculed for that one too.

I actually don't say "frak" in real life. I use the original word but I try to tone it down around here. I'd be banned in an hour if I posted the way I actually speak. A friend of mine once told me she never had heard the c-word used as a verb, adjective, adverb and preposition as well as a noun all in the same sentence 'til she listened to me for fifteen minutes. I'm like the dad in A Christmas Story, I work in profanity the way some artists work in oils.

I'll go ahead and post this here from another thread"
My sister and I were shopping at Target last week and she said "have you seen this new ride on dinosaur?" Oh man, I busted up laughing. Took me a LOOOOOOONG time to explain it as she is not toy savvy. After I was done explaining, all I got was "you're a dork" HAHAHAHAHAHA!! Anyways, what is considered nerdy and normal is a thin line for us. The fact we look for toys, stand outside a store waiting for it to open for toys and even sometimes waiting for a store to open at midnight, for a special release of toys is nerdy enough. |

I broke up with a chick 'cause she called and interrupted me while i was watching the SNL premier.
it was the early 90's. great cast, and dammit i like SNL. You either watch it with me, or leave me alone while it's on. So yeah, i chose SNL over a girl. this is just off the top of my head, I'm sure I'll think of something worse that i've done.
