I see a lot of dogging the east but don't get too confident and rule out teams like New Jersey and Washington. everyone thinks the playoffs will just be Boston v San Jose or Detroit or Calgary but I think those two teams are the real sleeping giants. New Jersey was counted out when Brodeur got injured and so far they've done a good job of "limping along".
side note for east, Bolts beat Boston.....once again getting my hopes up just to drop them...

I don't count em out. But the only teams with a hope are the top six this year.

Whatever keeps you from jumping out the window...
Looks like there might just be a bit of a rivalry brewing there, a la the Wings/Avs rivalry of years past, best two teams (in the west) going back and forth. Although, with a few more Lady Bing winners and Europeans on the rosters, I don't think it will get quite as violent as Wings/Avs (unless old man Lemieux starts taking liberties and McCarty feels the need to pummel him again). But it is getting a bit chippy out there... |

San Jose looked terrible last night! Obviously Detroit must have been slowed by injuries or something for them to have more points.
San Jose has nobody on their team that can score in the clutch when Thornton takes dumb penalties. Without a decent scoring winger you will never survive in the playoffs.

I really think the Wings and Sharks have so much parity that a series between them might be the most entertaining playoff series this season. I have no delusions that the Wings are dominant this year, particularly with their defense and goalie issues. So where are all those extra Duck defensemen going to go? Apparently there's a rumor that Pronger might go to Boston... Scary thought since Thomas is an absolute animal in goal... But they'll have to give up some offense to get him. The Ducks would be stupid not to take at least one or two of their forwards for big bad Chris. |

He, he... I was waiting to see how you'd react since I first read that post. I'm almost disappointed that your response was so straight forward and rational, without more than just a hint of sarcasm... yet it was still entertaining. And you forgot to mention the guy with one of the coolest names in hockey - Cheechoo! (that's even fun to type )
as for Cheechoo, he is one of my favorites (hey, I feel a connection to the guy since we both are horrible at skating) and will end up getting his jersey shortly (though, the need for a Guch one is pressing but I digress) but where the hell has he been this season? he is a no show, much like Marleau was last year. me thinks he came back to soon and has a nagging injury. the edge I give DET is that each game they brought everything where I still wonder if SJS gives a shit sometimes or just figure "it'll all work out". Quote:

Yeah, but the Duckies need offense, not another goalie. They have one of the best (when he's hot) in JS Gigerre. Why would they want Fernandez over offensive power (which is their real problem, and has been for a couple seasons now)?
