Yes sir that was a true delight to see they pulled that off. I watched the Pens game and it looked like they were in a haze the first period. This happens though when you play 13 hours after your last game and you are on the road of course!
I love how Hossa scored right after all the booing by the dumb Pen fans, of course they were doing it to him the whole game. Then some of the lame asses had the notion to chant that he sucked. I would just have to point to the score board! I can also understand why Pens fans are bitter. A key member of their playoff run last year, Hossa rejected them and chose Detroit, leaving the Pens even more decimated than they would have been. Detroit is succeeding. Pittsburgh is not. But I'm certainly happy with his choice. He will be integral if Detroit is to make a run at repeating, especially if the injury and not so hot defensive trends continue. Zetterberg looked good against Nashville. He got his 20th goal. That's great considered he's has a mediocre season. If he gets hot, that can only be good for the team as well. A win tonight could pull them within one of San Jose. Go Wings! |

I love that the top is tightening up. Tonight's games will decide who's number two in the league, and the West is definitely within striking distance to knock off Boston for number one, maybe even in the next few days. Gotta love following hockey from Bunghole, Africa on the internet... |

damn, yesterday wasn't the best for the top teams in NHL. CHI, DET, BOS, SJS all lost with only SJS forcing an overtime.....NICE!

dude, Pens offered him less. if I remember correctly the Pens offered longer term with less but that was from ESPN who haven't cared about hockey since Bettman told them to piss off. if what you said was true then he would have signed for more then one year IMO. I also find it hard that anyone who jumped to ATL for a bit is chasing anything but $$$$$$$

yeah but I think the Edmonton thing was never confirmed. honestly, the thing that sells me for it and where I find biggest hole in your arguement is the length of contract.if a player really wants to be part of a team and grab so called "immortality" then they tend to sign for more then one season.
either way, I'm extremely interested to see how DET plays this one. Zetterberg went up in price and is locked in so it looks like the team will have to build around him ($ wise). the economic crisis will affect cap space for 2010-2011 so if they lock Hossa up for any amount of time then DET will have to drop a few other players (bigger names too). I think DET will probably do a one year contract extension if both parties are game. I don't think DET should do too much damage for Hossa as they won the cup just fine without him (not saying he isn't an asset). I'm willing to bet Hossa is gorilla in the room for DET management. |

Then they'll make Hossa an offer, which may involve veterans and himself taking a cut to get under the cap. It happened before with Brett Hull, so we'll know at that time who wants to play with the Wings and who is in it for the money. Another cup win would also contribute to shrinking that gorilla, but yes, he's most certainly there. In other news... Dude, Mike Green is an absolute beast! The Caps are looking better and better, at Tampa's expense this time. At least Malone got one. |

Whoa, the underachieving Pens canned Therien...
Pittsburgh Penguins fire head coach Michel Therrien - ESPN Wow, I guess somebody's head had to roll when the team with the league's top scorers, who went to the finals last season, is currently sitting well out of the playoffs. I never liked him, but I really didn't expect them to get fired just like that... Oh, well. I'm over it. |
