HAHAHAHA... With all the feminine bitching in here and calling players who are tough enough to not only be in but WIN the Stanly Cup "babies" I would hope all you haters will take a look in the mirror and see who is the real baby.
Boo Hoo it was poor officiating... it was favoritism... The Wings are better than they played... All that matters is who are the Stanley Cup Champions!!! WOOO HOOO PENGUINS!!!!!!!!!! THE STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS!!! I had no doubt from day 1. Sorry you guys backed the wrong team. The RED WINGS were way over-rated. They are too old. Not enough stamina to go 7 games. That series with Washington was a better challenge. Thank God for Crosby, Fleury and Malkin. Sorry you guys hate skill players so much. Credit should be given where credit is due. The Penguins played on hell of a post-season and won the cup.

Oh, shut up and enjoy your team's Stanley Cup... I kid. Besides, you know I'm right...
Congrats to the Pens on the win tonight. They won because they were the better team in both games 6 & 7: Top lines: Even (cancelled each other) Goaltending: Slight advantage PIT Third line: advantage PIT Coaching: advantage PIT. I can't believe that Babcock was telling his players to relax and enjoy the last two games. They never looked desperate in either game until it was too little too late. I guess a team that just won last year (and has won 4 cups in 11 years) will never be as hungry as the one who hasn't won it for over 15 years (and came so close last season). With the talent level so tight, I think that was the difference. I refuse to blame the sucky refs for missing the icing (pointed out on national TV) that led to the first goal. Couldn't help myself . Oh well. Regardless, I think DET overachieved in these playoffs. The way they played all season and then did nothing at the trade deadline, I thought maybe they'd make the Conference Finals at best. I'll have to be satisfied with second best this season. Quote:
Anyway, congrats Pens. I would say we witnessed a passing of the torch. Or maybe that's a little too much credit. They haven't quite earned that yet. Congrats to Guerin (classiest guy on the team), Staal (series MVP), Talbot (runner up), Scuderi (best D and goalie when needed). In the end, the last three are the Pens' depth that beat the Wings' depth. And that's the bottom line... |

I would LOVE to break down the idiots who say the Wings are too old.
Those OLD Red Wings have won the cup FOUR times since 1996. How many times has YOUR team won since then? Exactly so kiss my ass, the Red Wings are better than your team, FOR OLD MEN. See, GOOD SPORTS don't go around shoving shit in people's faces. If the Red Wings had won, I wouldn't come here and throw it out at everyone like a two year old. I would be happy indeed but also send congrats to the other team. BOTH teams wanted it, only one showed how badly the past two games, and it was not the Wings. The Wings did not play even half as good as they can. They let the Pens walk all over them. They kept shooting from the blue line, a stupid cop out move, instead of blowing past everyone and trying to actually get a goal, and Pens players were all over the puck as a result. The Red Wings were barely even there the past two games. The Pens had some horseshoes with the goal going off the post but they deserved the cup because Detroit didn't play like a team that wanted to win. The Wings are MORE experienced and MORE talented than the Pens. Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot and doesn't know anything about hockey. Winning a Stanley Cup does not make you more experienced or talented. Congrats to the Pens! We kicked their ass last year and they turned it around on us this year so we're even. To the Red Wings haters, us fans don't mind because we know your hate is coming from how jealous you are that our team is better than yours. That is why we can wake up tomorrow and still be happy to throw on our jerseys instead of doing what you do and throwing it in a box or hanging it in the closet until next season.

Here are the players that should be gone (or at least moved down to let the young players get more ice time) next season: Hossa Stuart (has bad games at the worst times) Samuelsson (his bad plays cancel his good ones) Maltby & Draper (they have their 4 rings, let them move on - they are not really a factor any more) Chelios (time has passed him by) Lilja (he wasn't really missed anyway) Detroit could really use one more solid defenseman as well. You think Dan Boyle would like to get past round one??? |

Yeah, Sharkie, we all knew that was coming. The worst part is that he didn't do anything to help his own cause. One good game for him in the last two would have won him that cup. He needs to be gone next season, and his salary money used to develop the young guys like Veino, Abdelkader, Helm and Ericsson.

TheBaroness,
Half of your post is why people hate Red Wings fans. Wings fans think the Pens only won when the Wings played poorly. I can tell you they played so poorly because the Pens outplayed them so badly the last two games. They kept shooting from the blue line, instead of blowing past everyone and trying to actually get a goal, because they simply couldn't. They played the best they could, and it wasn't enought to beat the Pens the last two games. I've never once said Detroit wasn't a very good team, and I've always given them credit when they earned it and beat the Pens in games the last two finals. The truth is, the Wings are a very good team, and a great franchise, and will be back next year. That's the difference between true Pens fans and Wings fans, we don't make excuses and complain about the way the games was called, nor do we say the Wings can only win when the Pens "didn't play half as good as they can." I have and will continue to rub the win into Wings fans for another day or two to have some fun, and because some of the guys have been so funny with some of the things they've posted in this thread. It's all just for grins, and I think everyone has taken it pretty well on both sides. I look forward to next year's thread. Quote:
They can keep Hossa (although I don't think they have the money to sign him). Last edited by stburr91; 06-13-2009 at 08:42 AM.. |

DET has a reputatuion for signing longer contrtacts at lower rates. this may keep them saddled in the motor city and even worse there may not be anywhere for these guys to go. I am waiting to see what Holland does w/ DET and the "new realities" of the NHL. Quote:
