Well, since I've been away over the weekend for Bettman's back to back (though I did get to watch most of both games), I finally get to chime in on the series. Couple things:
Despite the continued bashing by the bandwagon fans (and my own lack of patience while he had the worst season ever), Ozzie has taken his game to a new level. Here's hoping he can steal at least one in Pittsburgh, finish it at home and get the Conn Smythe to shut us doubters up once and for all. Zetterberg is a fiend. He has eaten Crosby alive so far this series. Now let's see if DET's defense can keep it up when Zee can't get on the ice w/ Crosby every shift back in PIT. Here's also hoping DET's depth continues to pwn even PIT's top defensive players (who look pretty tired already). I thought it was DET who was supposed to be suffering with the back to back and only a couple days off. I still think the series could go long, but I wouldn't want to give Bettman the satisfaction. He's already had a better playoff season than he could have hoped for. Let the old Wings rest. Crosby and Malkin will have plenty more chances to win cups over the next decade or so. PIT will be a playoff juggernaut for years to come. I've found the officiating in this series so far to be just as bad as it has been throughout the playoffs, equally bad for both sides, so I guess complaining about it would be futile. BTW, I think I like sleepy Malkin (last year) better than angry Malkin. He just looked silly missing his sweater, pads, gloves, etc. I didn't even recognize him until they said who it was. Sorry, had to giggle at that. So far, so good. Go Wings! |

I should have worded my post properly, haha. I meant that Wings fans in general waited a long time for them to win. I became a fan in '94 (so yeah, my math is off, it's 2009 now) so I waited two years.
I just hate people who think every Wings fan is a bandwagoner. If I were a bandwagoner, I wouldn't have liked them during a time where they were hitting a 40+ year drought. Some moron said that to me so I showed him pics of my Red Wings collection and he shut his mouth.

comes w/ liking a wining team. theres a lot of people who do jump on the bandwagon and thus it becomes the stereotype. my experience is that you can tell the bandwagoners and the diehards within 5min of a conversation...
btw 1994 is my favorite year for the wings! |

Yeah, bad prediction on that one... Guess even he couldn't help them...
In all fairness, the Ducks were the second best performer overall in the Western playoffs. They at least took the Wings to 7 (and I consider that a serious overachievement for them). The Sharks would have survived at least a round longer had they started out against somebody else, IMO. |

True. But it sure helps not to get gooned right out of the gate. Makes it a little easier to save some in the tank so you don't end up out of gas like the Canes last round.
