Wesley Wills is one of my favorites, I started listening to him because I thought "Hahaha, Al Capone was hoodlum he was a Gangster is amazing!" But after listening to more of his music and seeing "The Daddy of Rock N Roll" I realized he was really really good. Plus "SAY YOU RONALD REAGAN WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING IN MY HOUSE GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT NOW AND DON'T YOU EVER COME BACK OVER HERE AGAIN, IF YOU COME BACK THIS WAY I WILL SHOW YOU THE WEAPON AND SHOOT THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF YOU" is the greatest lyric in the history of music

I was headbutted by Wesley Willis. He played a show at a place called Rock of Ages in Michigan, a parking lot concert at a record store. He buried his face in his notebook & read his songs only the way he could. It was a great moment. I wish I would have gotten one of his paintings when he was alive...

so i have been thinking about this topic for a while now and what ever happened to good bands? i know everyone has there own opinion on what they call "good" but for me i grew up listening to a lot of grunge bands and heavy metal bands like... nirvana, deftones, tool, alice in chains, metallica, pantera, bands that just dominated the music industry because they were so talented and awsome.
now we have all this new emo crap and just horrible bands that just blow ass, i just dont feel it and cant even get into it. i havnt baught a "newer" cd in a long time just for the fact that everything out there sounds the same. i hear people say oh mudvayne and slipknot are awsome and for me they are alright but i wouldnt go out and buy there cd because truthfully there not that great. i think that bands are to afraid to be original and take chances, they all want to sound like or attempt to sound like something that already exsists or has exsisted. for me i love music and have been really bored and fustrated waiting for something awsome to come out and just dominate. i remeber back when marilyn manson dominated the music scene for awhile because he rocked and just drew you in. i didnt care for what he stood for, but as a musician he was awsome. i miss the good ole days when you had variety in the same kind of genre but yet it was all awsome for the most part. now its just crap and this is my own opinion but its how i feel. what do you guys think? It really depends on where you look. And despite what anyone thinks emo is not a genre of music. They simply claimed bands. |
