Sounds like you are both trying to work it out so good luck to both parties involved. Just be more careful in the future and make sure you have gotten the items you planned on trading before you accept any money. Please don't take this as a scolding though. That's not my intention whatsoever.

I have to agree with Dark 5cythe on her post in the other thread that you shouldn't trade what you don't have in hand. As a buyer, since I paid the amount, I expect the seller to ship within 1-2 days. Any other time frame is really unacceptable unless the seller discloses this inability in advance.

Lets just say you offered someone a blue one in a trade because your ordered one from Hasbro and was expecting it. How do you think the person you offered that to is gonna feel when you have to tell them you got a black one instead. If I was the other person I would ask you why you offered me a blue one in the first place if you didn't have it yet. I totally understand your side of things about the other person involved being annoying with all of the PM's and emails and maybe some of them were uncalled for. The bottom line is that you offered something in a trade that you didn't have yet, and might not ever have due to complications that both parties inlvolved have no power over, such as lost or stolen packages. I guess the real problem here is not so much making the trade when you don't have the items in hand. The problem is accepting the payment before you have the trade items in hand. You could have told the other person ahead of time that you will have these items for trade soon so don't send any payment until you are sure that you received them. Now that would have been fair. Right now the best case senario is to issue a full refund instead of trying to come up with replacement figures as part of the trade. A full refund will help with your rep. Then after your name is cleared I suggest you only accept payment for items you have in hand ready to ship out. I am a very patient person, so I wouldn't have PMed and emailed you as much as this other guy did. On the other hand I would have been way pissed off being in that other guys shoes and the only thing that would have made me happy at that point would have been a full refund. I think the substitution of figures would have just ticked me off more. I don't want to take any sides here but from what I've been reading on both threads people seem to feel that the whole thing about you not having the figures in hand before the trade was offered and the payment was sent is totally wrong on your end. This is just my opinion though. If I got anything about the situation wrong here I appologize.

Here's my 2 cents:
after reviewing all the info in these interwebs, I think I can safely call this a communication error. Copper21, I think you probably should have originally stated that you didn't have the items yet, but they would be here soon. I've had deals like that. I once was gonna trade a Fort Max and some money to a guy for a Flagg. He didn't have the Flagg yet and told me so. Unfortunately his deal to get a Flagg fell through, so our deal was off. There was no hard feeling even though it had taken about a month to find all this out, but we had communication. I felt ok because he let me know up front that he was working on a deal to get a Flagg to trade to me. HonestAbeJoeHooah, I can understand being impatient, I've had times where I'm all like "Where is that package I bought, It's been forever!" then I realise it's only been 3 days since I paid for it and there's no guarantee it's even been shipped yet. Paitence is your friend. People have busy lives and sometimes can't keep people updated as much as they may like. Basically, I'm just saying that this situation could have turned out better. At least now there is communication and it seems to be getting resolved. As for all the "Don't trade what you don't have" well this is done all the time with Pre-Orders. Only difference is that you know upfront that the seller doesn't have it yet. Also, don't be fooled that only stores do this. Half the time, terms like "Store" and "Business" are loose translations. I've seen more professionalism from individual traders than I have seen from some "Stores". Which sometimes are just individual traders with a lot of stock. |

Because we are both Hisstank members as well and this is the forum he wanted to start it at.
BTW, so I have many witnesses, today I sent mr. Hooah his $20 back along with 4 25th figures for the trouble. I understand everyone's point about selling something I have yet to get in hand. I have never had any problems in the past, but that will definately become practice. Thanks to those of you who did not rush to conclusion... Tracking number is 0308 0730 0000 8501 5626 It is now complete... Last edited by Copper21; 08-12-2008 at 02:36 PM.. |
