I am starting this thread because i do not want to continue discussion in the Joe thread it started in and get off track there.
WTF! What makes some people feel entitled. They keep free stuff when they know its is illegal to take it. Said board member in thread got away with unpaid stuff he knows he stole it. That is low. Last edited by AlternateUniverse Steeler; 07-22-2008 at 04:11 PM.. |

Um, it might help if you recap the problem in a new thread so others know what's going on.
What exactly happened so others can actually join this discussion? |

some people are simply dishonest. others are not. even good people have momentarily lapses in what's right and wrong because the temptation is appealing. we aren't infallible, but what we do in the face of a decision is what defines whether you are dishonest or not.
Spacemonkey brought himself up so I'll use that as an example. his cashier made a mistake, and he took advantage of it at the moment. it is a tempting situation, and in these economic times it is understandable why one would take advantage of it. but regardless of why you do it, it is dishonest. but after thinking about the situation, he was more inclined to pay for the items than get them for free. the example is that even honest people can have bouts of dishonesty. nobody is perfect and we are all tempted by one thing or another even if we know right from wrong. the difference between an honest and dishonest person is that an honest person will do the right thing, even if he has to go back and make up for his mistake. others are dishonest and will defend their actions. in Spacemonkey's thread, there were several members who justified stealing by blaming the other person for the mistake. that is the MO of a liar and a thief -- blame others to rationalize your own behavior and absolve yourself of your own actions. liars and thieves don't take accountability for their own actions. so why do people do it. it's human nature. we all are capable of being dishonest, and we simply don't act on it. others are simply dishonest absolutely. it isn't entitlement, it is anti-social. but some people are proud of such behavior. you can't change that or even reason with them. |
