I just saw over on joebattlelines.com that Don Davis has passed away. The GI Joe connection is that he voiced Wild Bill for the CGI "Spy Troops" movie, but is best known (by me, certainly) as General George Hammond in the first seven years of STARGATE SG-1.
As you can tell from my sig and avatar, I'm a huge fan of all Stargate shows and think they're the best thing on the TV right now, so this is pretty sad news to hear. He was the SGC 'rock' who kept things under control while the world went nuts around him in the show, and I always looked forward to his cameo appearances in seasons 8-10. So long 'George'! EDIT: Official "Gateworld" tribute here. http://www.gateworld.net/news/2008/0...942-2008.shtml He was only 66 too...

I just read that last night, man that sucks. I also read that his last role will be in this July's Stargate Dvd movie.

Yeah, I believe he has a cameo in the upcoming 'Stargate: Continuum' DVD.
Fitting then that previews are declaring it the best SG 'episode' ever. Probably too late to put a "dedicated to..." caption before the titles though. Would have been nice... :(

really, really sad. i loved stargate, it a big part of my day 2 years ago when i would watch it everynight on sci-fi. he was perfect for it and it started to go downhill once they got rid of him.

That just really sucks, he really made SG1 great and loved the back and forth with him and Jack. The show suffered when he left, the last 2 seasons were good but not great. He will be greatly missed.
Can't wait for the new movie, The Ark of Truth was pretty damned good. I managed to watch the first episode of Atlantis's new season, not too shabby but a big wtf at the end, am looking forward to watching a wraith life suck happen. |

Continuum was good. (depends how good if you really are into the series) it's like a whole season made into one episode.
