***Update***
Called and spoke with the subscription lady again today (July 7) and she remembered speaking with me previously. She sounded surprised when I told her that I never received the Steel Brigade figure and didn't understand why I never received the June issue. She claimed that the July issue was en route to me so they couldn't pack that in the box that was being sent to me. According to her the magazine moved recently and I called at an inconvenient time (how are customers inconvenient...?). I knew about the move but I have been calling for over two months about this issue. I was assured that the toy and the late issue would be sent USPS with delivery confirmation today and that I would receive the items by the end of the week. I said that I would call back on Monday if I have receive nothing. She was speaking to "Lee" (called Lenny) in the background and I have spoken with him on the phone so yes, Dark 5cythe, there really is a "Lee." I shall post my comments here as this drama continues to unfold. Thank you for all of the comments that this thread has received. Yes, Toyfare is MUCH better, but I was looking for a supplement that I could receive in the mail and not have to track down each month at the bookstore. The toy was the icing on the cake but is turning out to be very hard earned...

I imagine that due to the slower nature of toy releases, magazines are one avenue where they are not outpaced completely by the internet. And especially when it comes to reviews, it is always helpful to have another voice on the subject, as there really aren't professional toy reviewers like there are with things such as video games.
It is unfortunate though that you had to go through all of this... did they think you only wanted a year subscription, perhaps? What is the deal with the toys, I am really curious about that. Do they give you toys if you pay extra for a subscription?

The toys are "free" with a subscription, but you have to pay a shipping and handling fee. Two year subscriptions have bigger and better toys...supposedly. ;)

I used to subscribe to toyfare when they were good and went they had good stories on the upcoming toys. I still buy it from time to time, I've noticed things seem rushed when i read Toyfare lately, and the Ads...seems thats all thats in there.....
as far as lee's toy review I only bought a few magazines in the past. I have been tempted to get the "free" figures as well, but i passed.
