Well, my Dad was in hospital anyway to investigate potentially serious kidney problms and they have just gone and found an unrelated 4 cm aneuyrism (I really don't care if that's spelt wrong) that will require serious surgery.
Bad enough, but given my family's history with hospitals, I am seriously bricking myself right now (can't imagine what Pop is going through). Let's see: Mum admitted for cancer operation: Died of unrelated infection caught while there. Dad admitted to have an operation to prevent strokes. He has a stroke during it and is left partially paralysed. Grandad admitted with heart attack. Died of unrelated infection caught while there. Uncle admitted with altzeimers. Died of unrelated infection caught while there. Notice the pattern? Don't believe a word of Micheal Moore's "Sicko".. just because it's free doesn't mean it's good. Our "wonderful" NHS is looking rather 'sick' itself all of a sudden. Needless to say, arguments about insignificant movies that are a year away and speculation on what figures we're getting next... hey, even a new cartoon, suddenly they seem rather worthless. I don't want sympathy, but don't really have (m)any friends to talk to about it. Guess that leaves you lot of reprobates so hard luck!!!! Right now I am so scared for my Dad and also so damn angry that after losing his wife and then suffering a serious stroke, he now has to put up with this. Even if I did believed in 'karma', I know nobody deserves this. Sorry, I'm upset... Don't expect me to make any sense.

Sorry about that. But you don't let this beat you down. There's still a sun is still shining outside. Try to stay positive. I'm sure that's what your pops would have wanted you to do.

Yeah, Rage, you can post or pm us anytime. We all have grief and humor to share with you. My pop had some bad troubles a couple years ago, so I can relate. Many of us here can, I am sure. Send us a note anytime.

Damn, you've been through a lot already. I can relate to how you must feel, having been through my dad's death and then mom getting sick (both diabetics) and losing her health and having to go into a retirement home (because she lost too much of her sight and couldn't take care of herself without a lot of help). This was back in late 2005/early 2006.
My unsolicited advice is this: You gotta get away from it several times a week and do something that you like. You gotta keep something to look forward to. Go see a movie. Read a book. Go out to eat. You can't be in it 24/7 or it will drive you crazy. At least it did me. I think the only reason I got through it is because I made sure to take the time to look after my own emotional needs so I would have energy to face that every day. I stayed with my mom in a hospital for a month and then was her caretaker for a few weeks after she got out when she couldn't do anything by herself including go to the bathroom and it was HELL ON EARTH. I don't EVER want to go through anything like that again. So when I say I feel for you, I mean it, bro. |
