I totally understand. As a matter of fact, in the past few weeks I started selling off a lot of the 25th MOC figures that I have from waves 1-7. I kept only the figures that I like or had a kid...so that left me about 10-12. From now on, I will only collect the figures I like, and not worry about getting EVERYTHING. There is too much coming out....and a lot of it doesnt interest me.
The biggest issue though, is that these 25th Joes dont mean that much to me. Its a superficial relationship I have with them...I mostly just like them for the challenge of customizing them. My heart lies with the 84-87 GI JOEs. Anyway, good luck with your situation. Im sure you will come back someday...you just need to walk away and reevaluate your priorities. Sam |

Hate to see you go man but as someone that is in the same situation you are (My daughter was just born in May and my son is excatly 13 months older then her) I understand what you are going through. I sell stuff on here, ebay, and tfw2005 just to buy more and I ask myself why every day. It's something I enjoy but sometime I step back and tell myself that i'm 29 years old and should act like it one day. But then I see new stuff or custom stuff I want and the 10 year old in me takes over. I hope to see you stick around and who knows, maybe one day you can pick up the hobby again.

Derek, I know the feeling I have drastically cut back on the collecting. Your family is way more important than a plastic toy. see you around.

I completely understand...I sold all my 25th collection except for snake-eyes/timber, beach-head and storm shadow...I'd love to have a second job but no luck finding such a thing. I'm also selling my car, times are moderately hard, at least I still got food in the fridge...
GOOD LUCK with the new human baby thing. |

Good for you and congrats on the addition. One piece of advise: Save the gem of your collection..you may want to revisit collecting again later.

Hey Derek, I'm sure you don't remember me but I bought a baroness from you awhile ago and it sucks to hear you leaving the hobby buddy. I still remember seeing the pic of your red sygil army and saying to myself "I have to have an army like that guy!" lol
I have to admit your for sale thread got me thinking about how much time I put into this hobby as well. I don't post here as much as my enthusiasm with collecting has been flailing. But enough about me, congrats on the new family and hope you'll pop in once in awhile! Yo Joe! |
