I just caught this too and was hoping it was b.s.! What a damn shame, the man was a legend and will be sorely missed. Wikepedia lists cancer as the cause of death.

Even though I knew Stan Winston had been in the business for longer than many people realise, he was one of those 'Hollywood immortals' you assume is going to be around forever. Though I guess, because of his work, he will be in a way.
I just hope he had some talented protages, otherwise there will be a hell of a void in the industry in his wake.

His Iron Man suits were kickass-he was producing top quality right until the very end.
..and I know exactly what you mean Crimson Rage about these hollywood immortals,I freak out when I think about someone like Stan Lee or George Lucas dying-these guys just seem to be cast in stone and you never think they can die

Tim Russert and Stan Winston were both the absolute best in their respective vocations, and both die within a week of one another. It is a sad, sad time :(
