I just won a Skystriker offa the EvilBay for just under $150 and it's as complete as i really want right now.
So basically i got the jet with all missles and nothing that needs night school at UTI to fix like landing gear covers that need springs. it lacks Ace and the parachutes. the other stuff (box, instructions, repro- labels, Ace) i don't need to make me happy. But does it really matter all that much to you? is there a level of completion for you that is satisfactory or are you completionist to the bone about it? strangely enough, some Tanker remarked sometime last year that he just noticed his FANG was missing the red roll bar...and i HAD to check mine. Now i am OCD about that piece missing on mine. But i am ecstatic about a bare-bones 'Striker. go fig.

I like my vehicles complete but I can handle an incomplete one as long as it is not a major part.

Depends, if it is something common, like a HISS tank, I will pass on an incomplete one, but if it is something like a TD or an MCC, if not too much is missing and I can find spare parts either on here or ebay, than sure, I will take one that is not complete. It is a matter of how often does this come around, more than how complete is it. Would I buy a bare bones TD, nah, no way. There would be too many parts to have to hunt down to put that thing back together.

A couple weeks ago I won a complete Skystriker, figures, missiles and everything for under $40 shipped. The only problem (And I kid you not) it smelled like poo.

that might be the smell of moth balls. Those smell like crap to me. If thats the case, you are screwed and should sell it. Try airing it outside, covered up of course, and maybe stick a bunch of air freshener trees on it.

I bought a big lot of figures and vehicles three years ago that absolutely reeked of cigarette smoke and had to leave them all sitting open air in the garage for two years to get the smoke smell out of the plastic.
As far as completionist goes, it all depends on the price. Would I buy a barebones TD? For 10 bucks, hell yeah. For 50, no way. But I usually buy big lots of vehicles so I piece things together bit by bit as I find things in new lots. The only parts I ever consistently have trouble finding from vehicle to vehicle are antennas. |

I don't mind if it's small stuff like a minor peice. Those can usually be replaced pretty cheaply. I play with my stuff any way so a lot of my really old stuff is missing parts.
