I just ran across this post, but I remember when I was little, I ended up with one of those guns that did not have the repeating action and it did fit on my vamp, but I have no Idea where the darn thing came from, I'm not even sure if I still have it. I'm wondering if maybe the first run of the vamps came with the gun that did not move and then it was released with a retooled gun later. It might be a very rare variant.

Does it fit in the vamp turret joint? Also, is the plastic a little "Stiff" compared to usual joe toy injection mold? It could be form the 83 model kit 3pack, it had just undersized models of the Vamp, RAM and MOBAT. If you compare it to regular vamp gun it should be just a little bit smaller, if it is the model gun.

NO, NO, NO! Why did you bring this back from the dead!?! I'd forgotten all about this and now it's going to be bugging the hell out of me all over again!
Anyway, i did direct Nomad of Joe Declassified to this post last time and he said he knew of this VAMP gun but did not have an answer to what it was. Since i started the thread, i've dug my SAS Panther out of storage, which is the same as the VAMP mold, so here are some comparison pics. I don't think they are from the model, as they are both exactly the same size, there are however slight differences in detail. Mainly the top and the rear. So get your thinking caps back on and analyse away!!!!!

I think it might be from the model kit cause even though the kit was 1/24 scale, the Joe vehicles were so underscaled that the model kit one was almost as big as the toy one.
You can ask Shipwreck about it. He has the model kit. Here's his thread: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...it-1-24th.html Maybe he can tell you how the size of the cannon compares. At least this way, if it isn't the model kit one, you'll know for sure it isn't.

I remember the model kit. I had it as a kid and I don't know where it went. I do remember the gun though and that it was "fixed" As far as size I think the model VAMP was a tad smaller and the one you are showing looks the same size as the original VAMP.

The model clearly states quick snap together kit. As the 1st post shows, this has a molded screw hole and screw, don't think that would be on a kit and the instructions don't show it from what i can see. Also someone else has stated these are visibly smaller than the toy mold. But without the kit i can't confirm these.

It isn't the model gun for sure. i have a built model in parts that I compared it to. Plus, the model would not have had a screw in it.
I have been finding these for years now. I have two that still have the mount attached to it, a longer, black version of the green VAMP mount. Here are a bunch of comparison pics.

Someone on here just bought the VAMP model kit and posted comparison pics of it up against the real VAMP and they are definately not the same size.
