I saw them on clearance at small joes and they look like GI Joes but they're not from hasbro. When did these action figures come out?

Are those the little metal guys from the early 80's? like, 2 inches tall, die cast, with star Wars articulation? I remember I had one and it looked like Hillbilly Jim's and Golddust's love child with a bazooka that made the Cobra Trooper's rifle look gi-normous

They were a group of African American figs based on G.I. Joe molds... You can find info on them here:

The 1997 Bronze Bomber figures were created using licensed Hasbro GI Joe ARAH molds. It's interesting to note that a few of the Bronze Bomber character codenames would end up being re-used for similarly-styled (albeit, Caucasian) Valor vs. Venom characters in the early part of this decade: Hard Drive, Hi-Tech, and Sure-Fire. |

Bronze Bombers were a goofy set that some off the wall company put out years back that used hasbro molds on alot of thier figures as stated. I had 2 packs of the TRU guys that I picked up in back in 97-98. I think there were 10 or 12 figures in the pack and cost around $15 or $20 for each set back then. It was basically just a few different molds reused with the exception of different paint and maybe the heads. I think Darklon was the only one that really stood out to me. They were ok but nothing special to me so I never got around to opening mine which was a good thing and just put them away and forgot about them until a few years back when I came across them again. I dumped both boxsets on ebay asap when I saw how much they fetched.

I've don't recall ever hearing about these, but that package looks very familiar. I'd certainly buy a set of these "repaints" if they made them in the modern line.
