I've read that it's a misnomer, like the 7th was released a different year...or something. I can't recall off the top of my head who or where I read it, so consider this a bump. I think it caught on because it rhymes kind of. It's certainly a fun description.

Yeah, Redmack, Shimik, Topson, Glenda, Manleh and the Cobra Mortal make up the "real" Argen 6. People lump in the Argentine Cobra Invasor because he's also very hard to get, but the experts say he wasn't actually part of this series of figures and is (arguably) a little bit easier to obtain than the others.

right you are!
This was a topic on Hisstank a couple of months ago with lots of good discussion: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...y-found-2.html Here is some of what I wrote on that thread: I came up with the name "Argen-7" back in 2000 (long before Sigma 6 ever appeared). It was a way to group the 7 straight-arm characters from Argentina series 1 and series 2 figures that were completely different from those available in the US. These figures were available both in Argentina (made by Plastirama) and later, in Venezuela (made by Rubiplas). They are: 1 Cobra Invasor (from series 1) 2 Cobra Mortal (from series 2) 3 Glenda (from series 2) 4 Manleh (fromseries 2) 5 Redmack (from series 2) 6 Shimik (from series 2) 7 Topson (from series 2) Estrela (Brazil) also made some unique straight arm figures (like Cobra DeAco) but the only unique character (unique to South America) that was made by both Plastirama and Estrela was the Cobra Invasor figure. Unique figures made later in Argentina (like Ninja Ku and Satan) are not part of the "Argen 7" grouping - because they are swivel-arm and not straight arm. The Argen7 refers only to the 7 straight arm figures listed above. Hope that helps! Aire AND The Argen 7 name refers only to the straight-arm figures that are unique characters (different from figures/characters released in the US). (All seven of the Argen 7 figures were sold individually carded). It does not refer to straight-arm figures that are the same character but with tint and/or color variations. Zap is a good example. He was released as a straight-arm figure in 5 different markets: US/Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil. In all cases, whatever the actual name, he was released as the same basic character: as a bazooka soldier, released with the same accessories, and varying tints of soft lime green. Here is info from all the respective filecards: US: Zap - Bazooka Soldier Canada: Zap - Tireur au Bazooka / Bazooka Soldier Brazil: Dragon - Bazuqueiro Mexico: Zap - Soldado Bazooka Argentina: Zap - Soldado Bazooka Venezuela: Zap - Soldado Bazooka Straight arm Zap recolored in brown - was also released in Argentina for a short time with the Falcon Glider (before the later swivel arm pilots replaced him). In that case, he can either be considered as Zap or as the Falcon Glider Pilot - but in both cases, the character itself would be the same as it's US/Canada counterpart. But he is a cool variation!!! By contrast, Glenda, Cobra Invasor and the other Argen 7 figures were actually unique characters. The grouping of these 7 figures together may not be useful to everyone - and that's understandable. But back in the day - when figures like Satan and Ninja Ku and the brown Zap were easy to find, it was a nice shorthand to refer to figures that many of us were searching hard for. Hope that helps. Aire PS - The Argen 7 Cobra Invasor (from Argentina) is much, much harder to find in good condition than the Cobra Invasor from Brazil. |

Dylan, hi! No problem! You were most definitely correct in saying that the Cobra Invasor was not part of the second series of figure. He came out with the first series!
FIRST SERIES: Cobra Invasor, Cobra Officer, Cobra Trooper, Zap, Breaker, Grunt, Scarlett, Rock n Roll, Stalker, Short Fuse, and Flash (11 figures) SECOND SERIES: Cobra Mortal, Manleh, Shimik, Glenda, Redmack, Topson (6 figures) When I first started collecting these about a decade ago, people just used the phrase "series two" to refer to the second series figures (I never heard Argen 6 :-) But, most people were looking for series two AND Cobra Invasor - so in emails and in on line posts, people used to have to say "Series two and Cobra Invasor" when talking about these particular 7 figures. So, I just thought it would be easier to give that collectible grouping a name to make it easier (and faster :-) to refer to them, thus "Argen 7" was born :-) ARGEN 7: Cobra Invasor, Cobra Mortal, Manleh, Shimik, Glenda, Redmack, Topson (7 figures) It was never intended to refer to a particular series - or to group them as a series. It was intended just as a shortcut reference word. I was surprised to see how fast it took off, and I was pleased that many collectors seem to have found the term useful. The real question now is, now that the convention gave us the International team, will we ever see the Immortal and Invasor as an official release 25th/ME style?
