Before and after. My original rescued from the attic. Disassembled and cleaned. Repro stickers.

This was one of my "big" Christmas presents as a kid. And at some point I'd like to get one again. You can see it on the shelf behind me in this pic from the late 80s. Ha!
I was excited to see one in the box at a shop over the weekend, but I wasn't ready to plunk over the cash they were asking for it. Perhaps if the box wasn't so warped from water damage. Regardless, it was still really cool to see one in person again. |

I got one a few years back. It was a bitch finding the nose cone for it - those things are expensive. The toy itself is very cool. Great design - looks modern even today 30+ years laster.

I bought one a few years ago and restored it and was able to get a box for it.
Didn't realize the tips are so hard to come by. I *think* I can scan it a print with a flexible resin, I'll add it to my massive to do list

This is my favorite Joe plane of all time. I wish they would remake it. I think the way it still shows up in the comics today shows how much this Jet was loved by Joe fans.
This was one of the last Joe vehicles I got in my childhood, I got an incomplete one with Ghostrider, a Warthog, Dragonfly, and some some Joes, couldn't have paid more than a $1 for it. Loved the hell out of this jet. Mine is currently missing the nosecone, pop out machine gun wings, missiles, one machine gun, back fins, engine covers, some of the tires, landing gear hatches are broke, and I took it apart when I was little ( I think something fell inside the landing gear hatch) and took out the yellow intake covers and lost them. This jet got a lot of heavy play from me and it wears its battlescars with dignity in my collection. I honestly think I'd rather buy a complete one then ever try to fix mine, it has too many memories its like a fine antique with patina on it lol. I remember believing this plane was based on a real plane back then as the x-19 models were everywhere and being real disapointed when I found out they weren't, then being real happy when prototypes of the x-19 were apparently discovered via Google earth in an airplane Junkyard years ago, Arizona's boneyard. Keith Thompson wrote an article about the real X-19 with the Boneyard satellite pic https://www.keiththomsonbooks.com/blog/f-19 Never found out if the sat pic was real or not but love the story anyway.
