I'm not sure if this is the right spot for this or not but I need some help with my GI JOE Tomahawk helicopter blades. Is there a "trick" to removing the blades?
The reason I'm asking is because my heli has been in storage for a while now and it's suffering from "droopy blade syndrome".......I'd like to remove them all carefully and straighten them back out. If anyone can help I'd appreciate it. Thanks. |

I use a small flat head screwdriver and stick it in between where the two halves of the rotor housing meet. Then I twist the blade slightly and work out the blades.
As to straightening the blades? Good luck. Its tough. Don't boil them, it does nothing but discolor them. I did that about five years ago.

Thank you very much, jaimanstone.
I didn't want to start messing with them and then have them break on me. I figured someone around here or some of the other boards might had done it before themselves. As far as straightening the blades go I did talk to another JOE collector and he said he used a blow dryer to heat them up and then placed them between two books to keep them flat and straight as they cooled. My whole problem was trying to get them off without breaking them. LOL |

I have actually tried to straighten the blades on mine, which I had mixed results, use a hair dryer, slowly heat the blade, but not for long though, just enough to heat it enough to JUST straighten the blade OK.

The only thing I've done to straighten out my blades is take them all out then re-insert them upside down, let gravity do all the work
To be honest, I remember trying to do this, but I forget if the blades actually would fit into the rotors upside down, I think they do though |
