But that's a Soldado you mentioned, there's a difference between the Piloto and Soldado

Captain STEVEN DePACE, may I ask, what differences are there between the Sodado and the Piloto by Estrela? I was not aware there were any differences at all.
Here is the URL to both the Soldado and the Piloto on the Brazilian Joe site: http://www.yojoebrazil.com/catalogo/ (I can't get the link to go the figure pages directly, so please use the link above, then click on 1985, then click on both Cobra Piloto and Cobra Soldado.) Also, I have the Brazilian Glider still MISB and through the plastic, the Piloto appears to be exactly the same as the Soldado. The only difference I know of is that the Piloto does not come with any accessories. Bur maybe there is a Piloto variation? That would be cool! Thanks for any info you can provide! Take care, Aire |

Yeah except for the fact they were released as G.I. Joe. It's not like Brazil where the figures were released as Comandos em Ação.
Also AireDevon, what about other Argentinian Straight Arms that are different from anywhere else. Zap is wildly different from anything released in North America/India/Europe/China/Japan. What with him being tan (much like falcão piloto from Brazil however a different shade) but with a blonde head of hair. Ripcord is called Fuego, and has a green suit with blue camo and flesh hands, rather than the brownish original look. Quote:
straightedge, hi - Lot's of good information in your post! However, if I may add a few things:
I came up with the name "Argen-7" back in 2000 (long before Sigma 6 ever appeared). It was a way to group the 7 straight-arm characters from Argentina series 1 and series 2 figures that were completely different from those available in the US. These figures were available both in Argentina (made by Plastirama) and later, in Venezuela (made by Rubiplas). They are: 1 Cobra Invasor (from series 1) 2 Cobra Mortal (from series 2) 3 Glenda (from series 2) 4 Manleh (fromseries 2) 5 Redmack (from series 2) 6 Shimik (from series 2) 7 Topson (from series 2) Estrela (Brazil) also made some unique straight arm figures (like Cobra DeAco) but the only unique character (unique to South America) that was made by both Plastirama and Estrela was the Cobra Invasor figure. Unique figures made later in Argentina (like Ninja Ku and Satan) are not part of the "Argen 7" grouping - because they are swivel-arm and not straight arm. The Argen7 refers only to the 7 straight arm figures listed above. Hope that helps! Aire Those are called the Argen7, just in terms of figures, not as a real team (two of them are bad guys) Though the first Sokerk had straight arms, he's not considered an "official" Argen7, in terms of the figures "pack". There were also a lot of variants with the following figures after the Argen7, but the A7 by itself had very little (or unknown) variations. The only one i can remember was my Glenda had also chromed boots instead of white. (i exchanged her for another figure as a kid *sigh*) I got it very late, by the time the Satans and N-Kus appeared. Satans have at least three different versions i've personally seen, and the Sokerk V2 i have always had brown camo (it washed over with time, but is still noticeable in the torso) and a cheap crossed bandolier. Storm Shadow was also released as Ninja de Hielo or something like that, and was carded in a pink background. He was also carded with yellow background. Quote:
So with the the Joe Con International 3-packs, and Jump 2-pack, we get 4 of the five in Modern form. Then there's "Glenda" Scarlett although she doesn't seem to look anything like the original.
If I want a full set in my 25th collection, should I be looking for repaints of the final 2, or do you think Hasbro or the fan club will get to them eventually? And i doubt that Hasbro release a SE with a silver cobra logo in the chest... Quote:
The artic scarlett is NOT the Quarrel version, nor is intended to be. Quarrel was actually released exactly as it was in 25th style in some Convention, or was intended. It's been posted here in the tank, frontpaged.

Cobra Mortal would be a tough one to do.
As far as I know, the softer plastic on the lower legs, arms, hands, and possibly head doesn't hold vac-metal so well. They would have to go with silver paint, or that awful, swidly silver plastic that often looks grey. Or they could use hard plastic, resulting in the first modern era figure with chronic thumb breakage! |
